  1. a fill ONE DAY after a surgery?????????????????? Hmmm, quite interesting. I have never heard of that. I am glad you are losing so fast. I have lost only 55 lbs and I still have 15 lbs to go. My BMI is finally 25!
  2. I believe Utahband ( who is my friend) is not expressing herself clearly. The band was not OLD meaning --- used band, rusty band or anything related to that. It was simply NOT the new INAMED band that was showed to her prior to surgery, when the band was discussed. The band that was placed was a very large band, one that is not manufactured by INAMED any longer. It was the largest band and it slipped probably due to the huge size on somebody that is about 5'1'' and 168 lbs on the day of surgery ( do not ask me why someone with a 33 of BMI decides to have a Lap Band)... I believe Utahband is not hurting emotionally only because of the complications but because of having the terrible feeling of having to have another procedure a few weeks after the first one in addition to having to find out that the band was not the band she was told she would get at the time of the medical assessment. I hope I am assisting her to express herself a little better. To end all this.. Utah is doing well now, she is still struggling with the feelings of having a band ( we all know how the first weeks go), feeling extra tired for being on very little or nothing for quite a while. I hope this helps.

  7. I did not have my surgery with Dr. Huacuz, my former co-worker did even though she loved the treatment she recieved there during and post surgery she had a hard time being able to keep any fluids and food down. The surgery happened about 10 weeks ago and a week ago she was taken to the ER for an assessment which become a removal of the band then the placement of a new band. I was not present and I feel uncomfortable giving details about a situation like this. According to my friend`s report the band the dr. presented her was a new inamed and the band that was removed was a 7 year old band which was placed on the upper part of her eshophagus causing slippage and lower oxygen levels in the body. She is doing well now, bit up from the double surgery expenses but on her way to full recovery. I have heard of other patients being happy with Dr. Huacuz. I have personally talked to him and found him very competent. Maybe one situation is different from another and people have to judge for themselves.
  8. Research your doctor and also ask him if the inamed band is the 2008 one by INAMED. Some used 5 years old band....
  9. Ask my friend about Dr. Huacuz, her name is Utahband
  10. I know 2 people from Utah who have had Lap Bands with Dr. Huacuz, one was in the Masters of Education program with me and the other was a Reading Specialist at another school in the same district. They both told me Dr. Huacuz is extremelly competent, they both have lost a lot of weight. They have told me that the clinic is extremelly nice, they had people caring for them from the time they got there until the time they left. I was married to a doctor before and I do not know how Dr. Huacuz finds time to be so thoughful to all of his patients in addition to performing his surgeries. I am looking foward to having my mastopexy. I am married..... like Missy4gordon said, but my goodness... the man is so charming... I would probably pass out for a surgery, not even need anesthesia :frown: L.
  11. Oh my goodness.... like Antonio Banderas??!!! I already have a band but would not think twice to have a fill there, just to be able to see that handsome man ... :frown: (jk) I am planning on having a mastopexy with Dr. Huacuz, probably in about 6 months. He has responded to all of my questions promptly- what an incredible doctor! Luciana
  12. Call your doctor right away and tell him about all the symtoms, if your port is really infected you need to get medical help immediately!
  13. I would talk to your doctors and possibly have a fill using the fluoroscope. I do not think the pouch would strech overnight ( I am not a doctor) ... schedule that fill and be careful not to eat more than a cup.
  14. Nosilla, you probably should contact the surgeon who place the band and see if he can do a revision on your port, I have heard of some bandsters who only had to fix the port. Why are you having it removed? good luck
  15. I also crazy spicy foods... I believe it is because since I cannot get much food in then I just have to make it INTENSE.... and that is what we get from spicy food - intensity !
  16. This is interesting.... I am UNABLE to burp ! Since my surgery in February I sometimes have the hiccups but I cannot re member being able to burp, even if I need to.
  17. Hello Judy, did you have your second surgery scheduled? Luciana
  18. I am having terrible hairloss also... Maybe that is the vitamins ... I forget to take it and because I actually eat reasonably I thought I would be ok - no anemia. I guess it is time to hurry and really do what the doctor says. I have lost about 1/4 of my hair. My pony tail is so thin....
  19. Hi Suzie, I am also filled at 4 ccs on my 4 ccs band. The exact same thing is happening to me, I have been throwing up slime - no kidding, probably about half a cup of slime so far. I had my fill 6 days ago and I have not been able to eat meat yet, everything gets stuck. I thought I was going to die last night. Maybe I am overfilled.
  20. Vintagehound, did you fly home from Tijuana? My doctor told me that the liquid in the band might expand and it feel that we have more restriction even for a couple of days after surgery. I hope things work well for you.
  21. I also had diarrhea after my surgery but it was because I was drinking a lot of protein drinks and some are loaded with sucralose. Every time I eat or drink too much sugar free food I get either diarrhea or cramps. I would try to watch the sugar free drinks and see if maybe they are making you that miserable. I would also call the surgeon if the problem persists. Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids so that you do not become dehidrated. When you drink liquids only you should probably not have too much of a BM but elimanate the liquid intake through urinating a lot. If you are having diarhrea I belive you either have an infection ( viral or bacterial) or you are sensitive to the sucralose.
  22. Hi Diane, are you sure they are gas pains? could they be pain from the surgery itself? What did your doctor suggest for gas? I have seen people saying they use gas X strips or chewables and walk a lot. I had lots of pain but the gast was mostly on the lower abdomen and shoulder. I hope you feel better soon.
  23. I had my surgery on 2/7 and my first fill was 2cc on a 4ccs band. I have been losing slowly because I can still eat, I never experienced what people say... 2 or 3 bites and they are full. I eat about 1/2 a cup of food for each meal. I even feel I should eat less than that, because I have lost only 16 lbs so far. ( including pre-op diet)
  24. Welcome Midnight Velvet and Melanie.... you will really love this website, that is where I find lots of support. Midnight, I had my surgery 2 days before you. Ah... there are people from all over the world on lapbandtalk.com.
