  1. I lost almost 50 lbs before I had a fill but it wasnt because I didnt want one... its because I was losing well without one and since I was just 2 months post op the dr felt it wouldnt hurt me to wait.
  2. I asked my Plastic Surgeon and Bariatric Surgeon the same questions... not silly at all. In my case neither Dr required an unfill like I expected they might. They also consulted with the anesthesiologist who said she did not feel it was necessary so I didnt get one. My port was just to the left of my old belly button. My BS and PS know each other and they said the BS could go in during surgery and give me a low profile port if I wanted it for additional fees of course for the BS. I decided my port was fine where it was and never really stuck out too badly so I decided to leave it alone. Because I was swollen I couldnt feel it so after surgery I asked my PS how he dealt with the port and he said he worked around it but had no problems with it being in the way. Now that the swelling is going down I can feel it again and its still to the left of my new belly button.
  3. Hi I was banded in Tampa also....we might be neighbors!!! Congratulations on making a wonderful decision to change your life.
  4. You should be so proud! You look wonderful!
  5. Well I just had one of the best plastic surgeons in Florida do my life augmentation and tummy tuck and he wasn't able to do it... And said its very rare anymore. I am sure it's not impossible but I wasn't considered a candidate. I hope your luck is better.
  6. i can resume excercise and lifting over 10 lbs in a month...I never have done a crunch... So in about a month I guess I could if I wanted to... Believe it of not it's not painful on the incision line. The belly button is the only place that bothers me and I think that's because it's where everything hits...waistbands, bending etc.... Plus it's still infected from the bleeding on Monday. The pain hasnt been bad much to my surpise. I have a whole bottle of vicodine but I have only taken two. One the first day and the other the 2nd night to sleep.
  7. Geez I am so glad I live in Florida
  8. Fabulous results!!! Keep up the good work!
  9. The only time I think about my band is when I am eating....which is the point.
  10. I have a lapband brand band and its 10ccs. My dr said there is no fill in it until he puts it there post op through the port. Just like breast implants... those come unfilled to which I didnt know.... The Dr actually has to insert the silicone or saline...
  11. My Dr requires liquids for the rest of the day then mushies for 24 hrs... and he suggests this due to the swelling which may occur since the band is tightening around the stomach.
  12. welcome to LBT... you have done a wonderful job! I am 2 months into maintaining and its inspirational to see someone who has been living with the band for some time. Congratulations on your success!
  13. How exciting! Have a blast celebrating!
  14. I think Rhonda was saying then pow.... she just fell asleep. But I am guessing...
  15. My ears were burning..... I never exercised in my life with the exception of a few failed attemts at the gym. Then as I got fatter I didnt even try. I was however always active by working in the yard, mowing the grass, cleaning the house...normal daily activities.... but as CG refferenced.... I didnt exercise formally during my journey... in fact I did nothing other than the above until I dropped the first 100 pounds. Then I started walking 30 minutes every day. I would walk 15 minutes then turn around and went home Keep in mind that becaause I chose this route I had to keep my calories pretty low in order to see a loss. I ate 1000 every day. I still havent started any formal exercise but I am still walking..... so I feel that is better than nothing. But my goal for 2013 is to increase my walking and start biking.
  16. Heck yeah...toss all the junk. I did that over the weekend... Sent the cookies in to work with hubby..brought the candy to work today and put it in the break room. It was gone before lunch!! pies got sent to the Inlaws and anything else was thrown out.... Rid myself of temptations!!!
  17. Pretty well...back at work today..thankfully have a desk job but other than being tired it was pretty good. I just posted a new pic of day 15 post op in my tummy gallery... and I will attempt to post it here as well. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/uploads/gallery/album_11062/gallery_303301_11062_20775.jpg
  18. It is very exciting but please remember a fill doesn't make you lose weight. Eating less calories does that which is why portions, calorie tracking and self control play a huge part in a life of a banded person. The band will help you from overeating, it will keep you satisfied longer between meals and it will be a great source of support when properly restricted. Best wishes for a successful journey!
  19. I was on liquids 2 wks prior and 3 weeks post op...so the fact you cannot tolerate food sounds normal to me and I believe your dr knows best.
  20. Not trying to cause alarm but without a proper medical exam we would all be guessing. I would get in to see the dr pronto to rule out anything serious. Best wishes to you.

I am the most considerate person you will meet especially in the workplace. Someone once told me i could tell her to go to hell and she would thank me for the trip. LOL However...i am also direct and find its better to be honest and manage peoples expectations so If it were me... The next time she came at me with something silly like you are drinking too much water I would politely say ."..I am following my doctors orders and I feel very comfortable with it. Thanks for your help but I think I will just find my own way". And every time she tried to offer advise I would say the exact same thing. She will tire of the game rather quickly I bet.
  22. My surgery was at 1230 and I was in my room by 245p... They had me walking the halls by 330 and was released to go home at 730p.. I slept all the way home ...45 min drive and then walked around the house for a bit, drank some apple juice and was back in bed by 9p for the night. You know your kids and I am sure them visiting you would be fine. They can take you on a walk.
  23. that is correct. I never did any formal exercise however I did start walking a mile after I lost the first hundred. And you are right...that's why I kept my calorie count low....
  24. I didnt worry particulary about carbs..just calories..Cheerios and raisin bran worked for my dietary requirements... 1/2 cup w skim milk
