  1. you could get the statistic with every food out there.... you will not know until you try it yourself unfortunatly.
  2. I think its so individualized that it would be hard to identify foods which you might have trouble with. My dr suggests white breads, white pasta, popcorn. skinned fruits and anything you do not chew well enough may give you a problem. But its trial and error. Just concentrate on chewing!!!
  3. You may be able to feel your port as its sewn into the wall of your abdomen... but you cannot feel your band... its wrapped around your stomach which is behind the liver...so its not accessable to our feel. If you have no pain that sounds pretty normal to me. Congrats!
  4. Welcome...congratulations on being banded!! To answer your questions... What got me thru the liquid diet was that I was scared to death to do anything wrong which would prevent me from having a perfect surgery. My dr was very specific about all the reasons I needed to commit to the liquid diet...and I figured if I couldn't do it right I wasn't 100% committed to the journey. So I had a perfect pre op diet, a 22 lbs loss and a successful surgery. I prepare food for my family the way I always did. I don't make 2 meals. Pre and post op obviously i couldnt eat what they ate but after that On the rare occasions that I couldn't eat what they did... I just modified my choices. The biggest challenge ....hmmm I suppose just learning what I could and couldn't eat, how to manage when I all of a sudden woke up and realized I needed a fill and learning to track my portions and count every calorie. But honestly I didn't find it overly difficult. I was so focused and followed my plan to a T that it came easier than I expected. Best wishes for your success!
  5. Welcome and best wishes on your journey....you will have some time to reprogram yourself and your eating habits...that will put you in great shape for the band!!
  6. Just focus on the task at hand...you are embarking on a wonderful journey. Know that the first few days of liquids can be rough but do not give in to the need for food...it's just fuel...and the liquid will prep you for a successful surgery. Best wishes.
  7. Very nice!!! Love these stories!
  8. I use both.. Just depends on what I am eating. I have an electronic scale from target.... I couldn't even tell you the brand..its no frills...just need to know how many ounces that piece of whatever is....
  9. Oh I forgot applesauce and mashed potatoes too...both great mushies...but make sure you limit your starches to 1/4 cup
  10. I am sorry your dr wasn't very helpful... The way mine described mushies is to be the consistency of baby food...for toddlers. That said..meat is tough to eat and digest so if you want it...put it in a blender. Bread and Pasta should be avoided in the mushie stage...But once one solids it's fine in 1/4 c portions. In mushies I ate tuna, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, hummus, Soup, oatmeal...things like that.
  11. A typical day for me once I was on solids is.. At every meal... 3 oz protien, 1/2 c veggie and 1/4 c starch... Three times a day. I also had usually 2 snacks.. One fruit and one sweet or crunchy... Sacks were no more than 100 calories each. My total calorie intake during my Losing stage was 1000
  12. Welcome and best of luck on your journey!!!
  13. I assume you must be a late riser.... Because by 3p I would have had over 1/2 of my daily calories...but of course you need to eat on a schedule that works for you.. I found eating the same times most days helped me plan my eating and look forward to the next meal.It does get easier but it is a huge mental game until you get to the Green zone... So you ned to busy yourself and find distractions so you don't make yourself nuts!!! hang in there!
  14. The point of the band is to eat until your are satisifed not full...so I am not quite sure what you mean....unless you aren't in the green zone yet and you are talking about not having any restriction. Either way...sounds like you need to find other things to do besides eating, thinking about eating or planning to eat. Read, walk, run, shop...do anything to get your mind off eating... It will help a lot. But just one question... You said you have had 2 scrambled eggs today... What time is that for you? Because unless that was just the first meal...no wonder you are hungry ...
  15. Just curious....If you are liquids why are you eating fish?
  16. I don't pay attention to Debby downers or non verified statistics, when deciding on WLS I researched the options available, interview doctors and made my decision based on my health, personality, habits and goals. For me the band was the most viable options. So far it hasn't proven otherwise.
  17. Well being sick and being on antibiotics can mess up a loss...so can time of the month.but I am most interested to hear how you are deviating from your plan since you said you haven't been perfect. Are you not tracking calories. Are you over eating? The time inbetween fills is tricky and you have to stick to your plan like glue until you can get the band to help you. But during this time if you stick to your calories you will continue to lose. You have such a great start. I am so proud of your efforts!!!!
  18. I don't cook 2 meals either. I don't have that much energy, desire or time!!! I cook for my family like normal and eat what I can. Usually it's always a protien, veggie and starch anyway so I am good to go sticking with my portions. Every once in a while the family wants pizza or something I just cannot eat like French fried potatoes....so I just make do with whatever I can and supplement if need be.
  19. I have to be honest... I never thought I would fail.... deciding to get banded was a huge drastic step for me to take and I was committed to doing everything and anything in order to be successful. I felt it was the last step for me... And although I didn't have any health issues other than borderline high BP I felt if this didn't work I would have an early end to my life because I couldnt continue to carry around 377 lbs and live to tell about it. So I made sure I followed every rule....listened to me drs orders and ventured on this journey ei one thing in mind,,,, and fast forward 2 years later I did it.... And I feel very blessed to have been successful.
  20. That's so awesome. Congratulations!!!! For me that was the only motivation I needed to get through the day. Remember it's just one meal at a time!
  21. Your weight loss will only stop if you want it too.... If it were me I would go back to tracking calories and portions.... The simple math should move the scales. I would also make an appointment with the dr and have a frank conversation with him about getting back on track. Best of luck to you!
  22. My dr is fill stingy. At first I hated it but now I understand it. In fact because I was tracking calories and eating proper portions from the beginning i was losind and he didn't fill me for 2 months... And then it took 3 more to get to the green zone. His rule of thumb is if your meals do not keep you satisfied for 5 hrs, you are looking for food, you are eating to much or you aren't losing you may need a fill. There were many times I was SURE I needed a fill only to leave his office empty handed and find I actually was able to survive without one for another month.... But I really believe I stuck to my plan like glue.
  23. Mine have never hurt....
  24. I tried to donate my skin they removed from my tummy tuck 2 weeks ago.... But they couldnt use it. It was only 10 oz total weight and no fat behind it so it came off like cheesecloth.. I was kind of disappointed
  25. Congratulations om the birth of your child. Nothing better than that to put your journey on hold. First place I would start is with your dr. Tell him exactly what you told us... He may suggest liquids for a week to jump start your loss. Then start working towards getting you band back to good restriction and start eating proper portions. From the beginning I would track calories... Every single thing you put in your mouth. When you have eaten your daily allotmentment ....stop eating. Before you know it the weight will start coming off and you will be well on your way. As for the exercising... I didn't do any of it until I lost the first 100 lbs so if that overwhelming right now...just adjust your calorie count accordingly. Mine was 1000 per day... Yours may be different Best wishes to you for success!
