  1. In the future you may want to stop associating food with happiness..because if you think about it..... It couldn't be farther from the truth Make sure you track your calories and get back on track tomorrow.
  2. In the beginning and for a while you will just want to sip sip sip.... If you do that you won't throw up. Most drs recommend not drinking for. 30 minutes before and after you eat. Drinking effects everyone differently. If I drink right after I eat it tends to push the food back up my throat and so I try to avoid it. Others say it feels like the liquid pushed the food through the band more quickly preventing the satisfied feeling you should have for 4/5 hours. You may be different but I would check with your dr.
  3. My dr sews the port into the wall of the abdomen so I would think if it flipped it would be tender... I hope you fell better soon.
  4. I refused to eat baby food....so on mushies I ate mostly hummus, yogurt, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, tuna fish, cottage cheese, carrots mashed, chicken salad and I drank v8 juice as a snack to get in my veggies.....
  5. So nice to hear from You and all the fun things you have been up too. No doubt in my mind you will shed the few pounds you put on.... You have motive and determination!! Best of luck to you!
  6. Per my dr instructiin I added Benefiber to hot tea and problem solved. Maybe ask yours....
  7. I was. 377lbs with a BMI of 55. I am tall and carried my weight low so evidentially that is why my dr was satisfied with a 2 week liquid diet. In your case what wouldn't you do the diet to become healthier for surgery? It's just that much less weight to lose after being banded. It also is a good lesson in will power... Because once you get banded you are going to need a whole lot of willpower to make it work before you hit the green zone.
  8. I am not aware that burping can hurt the band. It's actually beneficial early to help with the gas release. You are in the healing stage and your Body is recovering from surgery so a small or no loss the first week or so isn't unusual. Hang in there and follow your drs instruction regard liquids and mushies. The weight will come off.
  9. I disagree. Drinking calories doesn't keep you full. Eating solids will. And I don't know why vegetables are Not on the diet... From the time I was on mushies I ate Protien, veggies and starch... Granted it was hard at first but after about 3 weeks my body got used to that amount of food and even before full restriction it wasn't that hard.
  10. Since being banded My drinking will consist of maybe a glass or two of wine so it doesn't effect my eating at all.. You didn't indicate how much you drank or ate after drinking but I would think excessive alcohol would be harmful.
  11. i detest drama so try to remain calm whenever possible. And I pretty much figured I wasn't going to bleed to death although my husband was sure of it...LOL. It's funny it hasn't seeped ssince monday and this morning I woke up and it started again. Ugh...I am getting tired of wearing a maxi pad on my tummy.... I pushed on my tummy and tried to get it to come out like he did. I was sort of successful but i Called the dr and he said its really normal and for me to sleep on my stomach over towels and with the aforementioned maxi pad secure and let it drain out.... He does want to see me on Monday tho...just to check it out. Other than that I am doing well. The scars look amazing.
  12. I agree with FFP... Someone from your drs office will be on call... That's what we pay them for.
  13. I hope you find the help you need. I am sorry to hear you are having such struggles.
  14. I found all the information I needed for free by searching on the Internet for medical research, asking my dr, reading the info he gave me and reading forums like this one to hear about real time issues. While there may be books out there just remember they will be opinions of the author. You should always consult your dr for more individualized information.
  15. I try not to eat 2-3 hrs before bed but personally I haven't had the problem of food repeating. You might want to ask your dr if there is a specific reason this might be happening
  16. There is nothing wrong with getting help for a problem. People do it all the time for one ailment or another. When I decided to get banded I was at the point of needing and looking for help. Much like I had done many times before but for every successful diet over my lifetime there was a failure of regaining the weight. I wanted off the roller coaster... So I decided to get help in the form of the band. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Who cares how you lose weight as long as you lose it and keep it off. While i believe you have to be pretty strict with yourself during the losing stage, once you reach your goal the band will help you keep the weight off if you listen to it, And I personally think never having to diet again sure beats the alternative.
  17. feeling pretty good actually....thanks for saying nice things
  18. It's my pleasure...I hope I can be of some help to others...
  19. I started solids at 4 weeks and it was the same for 22 months of losing 3 meals a day of 3 oz Protein, 1/2 c veggies, 1/4 c starch 2 Snacks of sugar free sweet or fruit 64 oz Water Total daily intake 1000 calories.. I would suggest you consult with your dr to see what he/she suggests
  20. I was given some really good advice about 15 years ago. I was a pleaser my whole life... With men, parents, child, work, friends,... You name it and I was more worried about what everyone else thought. Then someone told me.... Unless they pay your bills their opinion doesn't effect your life. This got me to stand up and rethink my pleasing talents... And I started putting it to use... And you know what... I felt a whole lot better and gained the respect of a lot more people including myself!!!
  21. Since you went to the dr I assume they ruled out heart trouble. If not please go get that checked. That said ground beef is a pretty tough first food s soon off surgery in my opinion.. It fatty and maybe you ate too fast or didn't chew enough. Try taking sips of Water and call your dr for recommendation on what heart burn medication you can take if that's what you think it is. I personally think it was just a hard food to digest and time will heal. But I am not a dr so that's the best place to ask to know for sure.
  22. What you are experiencing is normal. Your body is withdrawing from toxins, caffeine, sugar and fat. The headache should be gone soon.... Keep up the good work. It will be worth it!!
  23. I agree with everything MiniMi said.... If you track and watch your calories to keep them between 1000 - 1500 depending on your activity level you will not gain..even as you venture in the green zone You may be in need of just a small fill... Sometimes it makes all the difference
  24. You could take a loan from a 401k ...low interest and payroll deduction to pay back with no penalty Sell some stock if you have it Apply for medical credit like care credit Use your tax return for a down payment then talk to the hospital about interest free payments on balance Cash in a CD or bond if you have one Best wishes in finding a financial solution.
  25. this is so true. My bariatric dr actually is the one who recommended me to the PS and I am so glad I chose him. He had a lot of experience with banded patients. For me it was a deciding factor.
