New Here....3 Year Sleever (Surgiversary March 20)
yeah, it does freak me out that I can eat most of half a sandwich. It freaks me out a lot in fact. I used to have zero hunger, but now I do get hungry but it's not bad. I hope it never gets to be anymore than what I have now. What kinds of things do you eat really often? I gained weight over the holidays which I should have been able to take off by now, but it seems like my body does not want it to let go of it this time!

Older Sleevers
I am 58 and I have been sleeved nearly 2 years. I wish I could say it's been 5 years since the 5 year studies are just starting to come out. I love the sleeve and all I can say is I wish I had the VS instead of the lap band. I could have saved myself 10 grand!

My suspicion about pre-op diets and surgeons
Dr. Aceves is the BOMB! I bet a lot of people did not know that he goes to other countries and teaches other surgeons to do the sleeve. He has taught a lot of American surgeons.

Confused about post-op week 1
I was on clear liquids for the first 10 days post op. That is Dr. Aceves post op diet. I got unflavored protein powder and put it in anything I liked that was SF. Hawaiian punch, Crystal Light, etc plus broth sf jello and sf popsicles.

Protein...how do you do it??
Do you like Isopure? Most people don't but if it doesn't bother you, it's very high in Protein . It tastes sorta like Kool-aide. Cottage cheese is very high in protein. A lot of people like Greek Yogurt. It's much higher in protein than any other yogurt. Fage , Okios, and Chiboni are all good brands. If you buy plain, you can add sf syrups which come in many flavors and will save a lot of calories. chicken salad, Tuna and Egg salad are also good protein sources for the mushie stage. I used to make Taco meat from either ground beef or ground turkey. Just cook the meat with taco seasoning and mix it up with sour cream and it's pretty yummy for a mushie food. There is a recipe for a ricotta bake in the food section of the board, You can also go to the world according to egg face web site and she has tons of recipes.. Hope these ideas are some help!

Protein...how do you do it??
what stage are you in? Are you on solids? Full liquids? It's pretty hard to know what you're already eating/drinking at this point for Protein

Afraid and need advice
I have a friend who has Barretts esophagus from the band, which causes esophageal cancer. The band can permanently damage your stomach and esophagus. I couldn't wait to get mine out. Read all the band to sleeve revision stories.

Nearly 2 years post op!
Congratulations TennJenn! I wish it was as easy for me to maintain my weight loss. It must be because you are so much younger than me. I have to watch my weight very carefully because I gain a couple of lbs if I eat sugar or do any snacking. I also seem to gain every weekend when life I do more socializing. It's maddening!

Am I wrong to feel this way?
That was very inconsiderate. I would be fuming angry! It probably was the yogurt that made you feel nauseous. You've been off sugar and if it wasn't the light kind made with a sugar substitute, there could have been quite a bit of sugar in it. High fat things make me sick too.

GPS Update: Important new information
What absorption issues are you talking about? We all know that the VSG comes with a 1% chance of a leak, but I know of no other issues with a VSG.

The best NSV thus far ! ! !
I am so glad you posted this! It's been really hard for me to keep my mouth shut. It's hard to keep such good news quiet. I've been dying to ask you how you're feeling. So glad to hear you've had no morning sickness. I can't wait for updates! Any names picked out yet?

What do YOU eat in a typical day?
yeah, I'd sure like to know what happened to Jillian.

11 days post-op and, oh, the constipation!!
I take a stool softener every day and miralax half a dose every day now. I put it in a glass of grape crystal lite and it's almost like a treat since all I ever drink is Water. I got horribly constipated and it was extremely painful and I vowed that would never happen again. I do eat fruits and veggies too but I guess not enough because I was still having problems til I finally gave in and started on Miralax every day.

Throwing up..help?
It does get better! You just have to try to sip on Protein shakes or bites of Greek Yogurt, or a spoonful of egg salad, etc. If all you can eat is 2 bites every 2 hours, just know that soon you'll be eating more.

Throwing up..help?
No, it's good that you're seeing your doctor. You need to find out what the cause of this is. Just sip on warm herbal tea to stay hydrated and warm things keep everything relaxed inside there.

5 Days Post-Op and in need of motivation!
The weight loss tickers come from ticker factory. There are other places too. Just click on somebody's ticker and it will usually take you to the website and show you how to do it.

Need some input about plateau
You don't have to be done if you aren't where you want to be. Protein first veggies next . I am sure you've heard it all . Change your exercise around. Intervals are good, but any extra cardio you can get in will burn calories. Have you ever tried Zumba? There are a lot of people who swear they can't lose if they let their carbs go over 30 per day.

Pistachio ProteIn Muffins
Where do you get the almond meal?

Getting Sleeved Young
As long as you know what you're getting yourself into, and are committed to following all the rules and doctor's orders, then go for it. There is no reason to stay fat if your insurance will pay for it!

Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
Cajun! Good to see you. I don't think I have seen you posting in awhile.

Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
What is VGB (vertical banded gastroplasty)? How is it different from the sleeve? I wish the OP would have come back and told us if they had to go in and get it out or if she was able to dissolve it. I'll have to remember this post if I try to eat an Almond Joy!

New here and need some advice
Glad to have you join us here at sleeve talk.! Most people have pretty uneventful surgeries but some people have trouble drinking in the beginning. If you have a hard time drinking, be sure to at least sip water every few minutes.

Day After Surgery - Would Love Some Input
You might want to try some Isopure Protein Drinks. I don't think they are as nasty as the bullets. You would have to ask a nutritionist or dr. about whether it would meet your Water requirements that way. It does get easier!

GPS Update: Important new information
I'd like to know the answer to this myself. I have heard Dr. Aceves won't do plication but I have never heard them say that. You're saying you know him on a first name basis and can call him anytime and he is saying there is nothing wrong with plication? If that is true, ask him why he is not doing that surgery ?

New here and need some advice
There are plenty of people who have lost 150 lbs with the sleeve. The sleeve is the best option for anyone . Having your intestines cut and rearranged is insane.
