  1. Best of luck to you! I am being done here in the states, I can't imagine flying home so soon afterward.
  2. Do whatever it tales to calm her nerves now, just remember from the time you get the referral and then see the surgeons there will be tests to pass at others doctors offices, there is a psych eval, a sleep study, a pulmonolgist visit and then you get a date providing all clearances are passed.
  3. Most likely your wife will need to make an appointment and ask for the referral. She should never be embarrassed to speak to her doctor about a condition about her health. The doctor will have to see her and make notes in her chart as to the physical needs she has that would require her referral.
  4. I have never heard of surgery so late in the day. I am worried I will be so nervous sitting around waiting for it instead of rolling out of bed early to get to the hospital. My other concerns are that I since I wont be out of recovery till at least 7 that the night could be a rough one since my husband works the next day and I will be there by myself all night at the hospital. Any one else scheduled this late? Any ideas how to calmly pass the day. What were the hours following surgery like for you all of you?
  5. My flipper ran 300 cash. Always ask what the cash price is, may places have better prices they can give you. There are 2 types of flippers. One is a hard denture like material and the other is a flexible plastic flipper. I recommend the soft for comfort. I keep mine in all day and at bed time I take it out and soak it. It has worked well for chewing with the addition of polident adhesive. Best of luck to you!
  6. I feel your pain, every night since I started the liquid pre op my husband says to me, so am I on my own for diner, or are you eating tonight and how about Buffalo Wild Wings, I blew up at him and told him what an a@@ he is!
  7. I just went for EKG test yesterday as well as blood and Upper GI, today I get a call from the doctors office that my EKG is not normal. It has a minimal voltage notation on it. So now I have to go to my GP for clearance tomorrow as I scheduled for a week from today. I tried googling it and the only I can see is it might be related to my blood pressure. It was high for some reason yesterday even on my meds. But I was super stressing while I was, not to mention they could not get my ekg to work for like 30 minutes and had to take me to yet another machine. So now I am stressing more thinking about going to yet ANOTHER doctor and the small possibility something is wrong and I wont get the surgery. Anyone else have a similar problem?
  8. I went to get my pre op done today. Tomorrow I am one week from being sleeved and I am excited and scared at all times.
  9. So here I am on Day 7 of my 15 day liquid Pre op and tonight is by far the hardest one as far as wanting to eat. ( I cheated twice and had a salad with diet dressing) so I am digging in the freezer for some frozen fruit a few minutes ago to put in my protein shake and out of the back flies a mini baby Ruth bar, I was shocked, I think I had a look of horror on my face. I was like ahh why?????? So after standing there for a minutes with a brief moment of temptation I took it out and shoved it far down in the garbage.
  10. I originally thought I wanted to have my surgery the week after Cmas, then I got approved and passed all the pre op requirements sooner than I thought I would and then the nurse said how about Nov 23rd and I was like Ok. I am so focused on getting this done that the holidays are not about the food for me right now, I am not even fearing them! I don't want to risk gaining any of the 44 pounds I have taken off pre op.
  11. Best of Luck to all of you, God speed.
  12. Funny thing is I really could give a careless about Thanksgiving dinner. I feel bad that I might not be able to go to my families house.
  13. The day is fast approaching! I am excited! I have never in my life felt so sure about something. I have total peace with the procedure. When I first got my date I had some doubts, then I reminded myself the very reasons I need to do this and the fear of health problems in the future far out weigh any fears I have of the surgery.
  14. I am on Day 6 of 15 pre op liquid diet and the last 2 nights I have been so cold I start shaking. It is not low blood sugar, I am just freezing cold the minute the sun goes down. Anyone else?
  15. As your dentist about a flipper. I was able to wear it with in 2 weeks of my extraction. It is simlar to dentures but covers the pallet of your mouth to be held in. I had to have my cut down extreemly to be comfortable but it works well with dental adisive and helps with chewing. It is a less expensive temp fix and looks like you have real teeth in the mean time! When my issurance kicks back in neck year I will get a permant fix.
  16. She had a lady on tv that had regained a hundred pounds after bypass. It was then stated that some 50 PERCENT of barriactric patients fail! I realize people do self sabotage, but 50 PERCENT? Can this be true??
  17. Poly cystic ovarian syndrome, a metabolic disorder that causes insulin resistance that causes weight gain as well as high blood pressure, high cholorestorl and difficulty conceiving and a few other things. Some of us have all the symptoms, some have a few. Pcos
  18. Noting to say but
  19. Fellow Pcos sister here, and my Doc is more than certain this surgery will help! He said I may get off all meds!
  20. Won't it be great to be able to walk into Victoria's secret and feel good about about buying a pair off the rack!
  21. I have had migraines for over 20 years. I use Imitrex nasal spray and it has been a life saver. I have not had to go to the ER for shots for over a year now!
  22. Congrats, my husband needs the surgery himself, badly, but that is another story. His biggest fear is me "getting skinny" and leaving him behind. I told him it was not about skinny, it was about healthy. He has been less then supportive.
