  1. From the time my daughter got the referral to surgery was 4 months.
  2. I am getting sleeved on Nov 23, my anxiety comes in the form of dreams. When the doubts creep up, I remind myself that I have to do this, blood pressure, back pain pre diabetic. I do not want what my parents ended up with.
  3. Does anyone know if sugar free Jello is acceptable on the liquid diet? I made it through yesterday, about 7 PM got real bad when my sister when out to "WENDYS" for her family. I politely excused myself and went to the store to shop for calorie free drinks to curb the hunger. My Nut said sugar free jello is part of the clear liquid after diet so I was just wondering if it is cool ion the pre op.
  4. ohhh, sorry you had to go through that. I am glad all turned out well.
  5. I wear a belt every day! Work uniform. I know it helps, but will only take you so far. I was getting so embarrassed by my saggy pants at work I finally demanded two pair and they felt SOOO much better when I put then on. I will probably breakdown and go to Goodwill at some point, I hate shopping period!
  6. I live in the Elgin Il area and have size 24 clothes. I have jeans and tops and couple of dresses, free to good home!
  7. My doctor says liquid diet too, they wanted me to buy 2 bags of Bariatric Advantage from their office for 135 bucks and it sells for 49.95 on the website. I printed out the nutritional info and took it to The Vitamin shop and got a nearly identical product for 24 bucks. I am wondering why a portion of plain chicken would hurt though? No carbs, high Protein. Oh well I will stick to the liquid, then I can't blame myself if my liver is still big.
  8. Thanks all, well I told my daughter and I believe it is the right thing. I still have not decided about my son. Since they all live on their own, no one will come looking for me, hell my son did not even call on my bday last week, but as I said he is 18, nuff said. Steph, yes very interesting ( if that is what you want to call them) personalities. The word I use starts with "B". If I have survived 10 years of them, I can survive this for sure. I have decided that I am not going to tell folks, but will not lie if asked at work, the nay sayers can all go to ................. where there goes that dispatcher personality again
  9. Great story Tammy. I had started reading it earlier and become so engrossed in it that I was almost late to my pre op appointment! So now that I am home from doctor and picking up some wonderful liquid diet mix (day one for me) I had to come back and finish reading and tell you Thank you for sharing. You really had a trip to get your surgery! I am thankful I have insurance and will be in a hospital close to home and all the tests will be done in one place. Mexico can be scary if you have never experienced other countries before. Please keep us updated!
  10. My daughter has tri care west and they covered her for the Gastric bypass, I would say just call a doctor in the area who does the surgery and ask about your insurance. The doctors office KNOWS who and who does not cover what, thats their paycheck!
  11. I have no experience yet as I am pre sleeve, but I was wondering about those energy shots, the ones with vitamins,,not sugar or caffeine?
  12. Look at you! New body, New hair doo YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!
  13. Don't be discouraged, weight comes off of ALL places, not just our gut. It took me 40 pounds to need new pants, but what I did not realize and think this is where pics and measuring will help you is that you will see a difference in your face, chin, neck, arms, upper chest ( Steve I know you don't have this problem, but I am a bra size smaller) butt and thighs and hips. I had been wearing the same size pants for 10 years, yet had gained about 50 pounds in that time, so going by clothes size can be very deceptive, you really have to look at the WHOLE picture (body). Chin up! 54 pounds is a wonderful achievement!
  14. You dont have a max out of pocket expense?
  15. Tomorrow is my first day of the 2 week liquid diet. Now that is all so real I AM FREAKING OUT! I am having anxiety about money, anxiety about being denied disability, anxiety just because. I know in the long run I will be happy, but tonight is a little rough.
  16. I used Ortho tri low, did the trick for acne.
  17. Thank you for your reply. I guess I am kinda in freak out mode tonight as I start my liquid diet tomorrow and it is all becoming very very real. It seems I fought so long and hard and now that it is happening it is kinda freaking me out. I want to take 6 weeks off work. I have 2 disability policies and hope not to be out any cash in the long run. How fast did they pay you?
  18. I have hospital imdemity and short term disability from Aflac. I am reading tonight that they will pay 750 for a gastrectomy if medically necessary. Has anyone here had any luck getting Aflac to pay hospital or short term dsability.
  19. Thanks Susan, I am remarried and my husband will be there with me so that is covered. I am just trying to figure out if I should share with my kids, maybe I should just say screw it, my ex is my ex, not part of my life the hell with what he has to say!
  20. I went to the seminar in July, had my initial consult Aug th. They did blood work and H. Pylori then. The next week I went to the psych eval and then when I passed that it was all submitted to my insurance. About 3 weeks later I was approved. I then went for a sleep study, an ultra sound and Nutritional counseling one time and my insurance has a lady call me every couple of weeks who goes over diet changes and how things are going. I also had to do a support group meeting ran by the doctors office one time. I am now scheduled for Nov rd and they said part of my pre op will be an upper and lower GI.
  21. How have folks handled needing new clothes as the weight goes away? I have lost 40 pound pre op and had to get a pair of jean that would not fall down, but i am thinking that this could get expensive as the weight comes off. I hate to spend a lot on things I will not wear for more than a couple of months. Some folks suggested Goodwill, but the thought of wearing a strangers things kinda bugs me. What did you all do??? Believe me when I reach goal, I will splurge on a new wardrobe! (FYI) I wear uniforms at work so work clothes are not an issue.
  22. I must selfishly admit that I am hoping for 6 weeks because I have to work holidays in my line work 6 weeks would take care of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I have worked the last 10 years of holidays and I am ready to enjoy the season! Also where I work it is a gluten fest at the holidays and I just want to avoid that.
  23. Well since posting this I was told by a co worker everyone knows. HOW???? I am not sure, but it is what it is. I am a 911 dispatcher and there are 6 of us so it is a small center. I decided to go to each person that was mentioned and say " Hey I was told you know about this, it is a personal journey and in the future if the topic comes up I would prefer you state that and leave it alone." I don't want all the cops talking about it just yet. I figured in time they would all put 2 and 2 together, but right now I can only deal with what I have to go through without all the other pressure. As for the kids, I keep going back and forth in my head. I can see where my daughter would be hurt, but my 18 yo son, well he's 18 nuff said. I have been divorced for 11 years, but the sob is just nasty and now that all the kids are grown I want to give him nothing to say about me. Unfortunately the kids still feed into the "telling Dad" thing.
