  1. Diludad is an excellent drug in the morphine family.
  2. There are 2 kinds of Gas pains after surgery. One being from the CO gas they use to expand the surgical field with. That pain takes time and movement to go away, Gaxex will not help. Then about the end of day 2 or beginning of day three you start getting real gas pain from your bowels just starting to wake back up and from the liquids you take in and swallowed air, now that part Gas X will help with! Take it with, it can hurt you and just may help here an there.
  3. Congrats! I told my doc at the 3 month check up that he should give woman a disclaimer, that the first 30 pounds lost comes from the boobs
  4. Losing the cushion is bittersweet,, even my knees hurt where they touch when I sleep!
  5. I suggest you sit down and make a list of the reasons you needed this surgery and what want from it. Then every time you want to eat "just because it tastes good" look at your list and ask yourself if the food you are about to eat will help you get to your goals or falls in line with the reasons you had this surgery. You had major surgery, you took a huge step why would you undermine all that? (tough love).
  6. I am sooo sorry you are going through this. I can't offer any advice from personal experience but I would definitly try the stretching thing before letting him do bypass. My daughter had bypass and struggels with vitamin defincies and symptoms and tends to put on a few pounds here and there if not really really careful, not to mention the horrible dumping syndrome that takes time out her life!
  7. I used hydrocortozone cream over the steri strips to stop the itiching.
  8. For me it was the pain, but that was only the first 2 days post surgery. I had a bit of nausea, but the nurses quickly took care of it with a shot. My pain was well well controlled with the pump that I could push every 6 minutes and 4 hour booster injections into my iv. When I went home I was more sore than in pain and had no nausea after day 2 in the hospital. When mental preping,, try to stay on the postive side, I think what expect tends to be a self fullfilling proficy.
  9. Fantabulous! You go GIRL!
  10. UMMM DEAR,, this is a HUGE VICTORY, nothing small about it! Congrats!
  11. So I have not been real good about my measurements, but I decided I needed to take a look at them today so I thought I would post my progress. On 11-21-10 2 days before surgery waist: 45.5 hips 54 breast 46 thigh 26 calf 16 ankle 10 wrist 63/4 arm 12 on 1-17-11 waist 42 hips 48 breast 39 thigh 23.5 calf 16 ankle 9 wrist 6.5 arm 11 today May-15-11 waist 39 hips 43 breast 39 thigh 21.75 calf 14 ankle 9 wrist 6 1/4 arm 11 my waist by far is my worst trouble area and I really need to hit it hard.
  12. I just realized the other day I am not longer obese either I am right at the same place 29. something............ Can't wait to show that one to my regular doctor since he does not know I had surgery yet, nor lost 101 pounds!
  13. I seen 169 on the scale this AM,,, I have been battling through the 170's for 2 months! Is it normal to have to fight so hard once you get down in weight? I am excercising more than ever before in my life and I just don't get this slow weight loss when consuming only 6-800 calories a day. I watch my carbs, I only eat chicken, it is just frustrating!
  14. myrori replied to a post in a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At 3 weeks I was using protein shakes and shots as well as Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and eggs as my protein sources.
  15. Approval from insurance about 2 to 3 weeks, to jump through all the surgeons hoops of testing and counseling 6 months.
  16. I asked about this very concern and I was told the body figures it out and when I am at goal I will add carbs back in and that will stop the loss
  17. I have made this two ways, one with the cauliflower cooked first and the way with it raw. I have found that when It is raw, mixed with egg and cheese it sets up best. Now mind you it is not a crust you can pick up, but when baked in the raw state it is servable in one piece with a spatula.
  18. I am 5 months out and for most days I can eat about 4 bites of chicken and a couple veggie bites. Some days I can eat more and some days a lot less. Like today one greek yogurt did me in at lunch.
  19. And YOU will do it all!!!!!
  20. So hear I am 5 months post up and I am happy to weight less than I have in over 20 years, but frustrated at the same time. 50 pounds since surgery gone, 50 pound pre op that took me about 11 months to lose. My frustrations, despite excersiing like crazy and folllowing every tip on this board I am fighting for each and every pound. It is not coming off at all anymore. I get down 2 pounds and gain 3 in a day. ?????? LOOSE SKIN< it is awful. I went to buy clothes today are realized I will not be wearing anything without sleeves this summer and those sleeves will have to be long enough. I hate my stomach,,all this sagging blob and my thighs look like monstrosities. Please tell me the skin thing balances out, cause I am feeling even less attractive than I did at 271 pounds.
  21. I second the Nioxin. I lucked out and got a 45 dollar size bottle for 9.99 at Ulta!
  22. A couple of weeks ago I we had a nice day and I went to the bike store by the trail to rent a bike just to see if my old arse could still keep one up right. I went out and rode for 2 hours! I LOVED IT! So I bought a bike right on the spot! Now everyday it is semi decent out I hit the trails! At least 2 hours at a time! Of course I did not stop at the bike, there was a bike rack, a helment, bike clothes, shoes................................ I sit at work on nice days and just long to be out riding my bike.
  23. I am sorry you having a tough time of it with nausea. I can not relate to that or smells, I guess I had and easy time of it. HOWEVER the noise thing, now I can tell you I have had lots of! The good news is, it gets better with time. Doc said it will never totally go away, but the noise and frequency does decrease dramaticly. The only time I ever really notice it at 5 months is if the room is really quite and that is not often for me! I consider it all a trade off for how great I feel and look now!
  24. Way to GO! Show those hills who is boss!!
  25. For me it boiled down to being more scared of the problems my weight was causing than what eating would be like afterwords. Yes you can have complications, but the chances of those are far less than the complications of High blood pressure and diabetes. If you run into complications from surgery, they can be treated, Strokes from HBP and kidney and nerve damage from diabetes can not be treated. Then there is your job, is it worth losing it over food? I am 5 months out and I eat pretty much everything, as long I deem it healthy, as I did not do this to not change my bad ways! NO pain, No loss of weight...................
