  1. I was banded Nov 17th and I have the same hardness and that is where my port is...it's probably normal.

  3. I did see it as I am an avid watcher every season! People react in different ways and yes you should expect your family to do the "wow, look at you!" thing but honestly, people do not like others to succeed! You are doing awesome and don't let their reactions hold you down or make you think you haven't done enough! The best reaction is from your husband and he thinks you look fantastic so that is all that matters! I really want Ada to win the whole thing but my second choice would be Patrick...Frado is too cocky and well Elizabeth didn't do anything, everyone else did it for her! Take care, S
  4. My surgery was preformed by a wonderful man by the name of Dr. Joya in PV Mexico...him and his team could not have performed a better surgery and the hospital was out of this world! Three of my girlfriends also had this done by him and none have had any problems...I think you could have problems no matter where you get it done if you don't follow the rules set out for you to succeed! Good luck in your research! S
  5. I had my band surgery in PV Mexico and plan to also have my boobs and tummy done at the same Hospital...it is way cheaper and I have met people and saw their tummy's done by the plastic surgeon and they look fantastic!!!
  6. Hiya, I myself wanted to run a 10km in 2010 and I did it! I bought the book The Beginnings Runner's Hand Book from Amazon.com and it has a few programs in there from the beginners to the more advanced...it also has all the nutrition, exercises and stretches you'll need to begin! It is an awesome book and I did it very easily! For beginners it has a 13-week walk/run program which starts you off at 'run 1 min. walk 2 min. do this 12 times (this is the first day). So by the end of the 13 weeks you should be up to Run 40 mins. The only thing I will warn you about is if you miss even a single session, three a week, you'll need to start back at the last week accomplished as it is hard to keep up. I paid $19.95 for the book and it has been revamped a few times so the ISBN number is ISBN 978-1-55365-087-4 Good luck and have a blast! Sandi
  7. $8000.00...also included me to bring someone for the comfort...2 weeks post-op and feeling absolutely wonderful!
  8. Hi Seneca, I live in Canada and our insurance sucks as far as being able to have the Lap Band covered so I am a self pay and was banded by Dr. Joya in PV Mexico on Nov 17th , 2010 and I would have not done it anywhere else! I had the best experience with him and his staff and I took a GF with me (no leave left for my husband) who also was banded by him 1.5 years ago (lost 98 lbs) and he was so excited to see her!!! If you would like you can PM me and we can talk more...BEST experience yet!!! Sandi

Congrats! I too was banded the same day and almost the exact same experience! I didn't have much gas either and as soon as I was released from the Hospital I did not continue with the pain meds either...didn't need them! I have taken nothing except 10 days anti-biotics. I am a self pay so there was no pre-op diet, surgery was in PV Mexico (I am from Canada) and I was able to enjoy some sunshine as well which was great for the soul! I have lost 12.4 lbs in 6 days and too am very proud of myself! Keep up the great work!!! Sandi
  10. Welcome Kristy! I was a nervous reck as well and was banded last Wednesday Nov 17th in Mexico (I live in BC)...sometimes we read too much and sometimes we don't read enough but I will tell you this, I was almost crawling out of my skin the day of surgery because of everything I knew and the stories I read from this site!!! For me, it was over kill! I woke from surgery and I was fine..yes the gas is a bit much but try letting it out and I found sitting up right to allow it to come to the surface was helping me! Everyone has a different journey, a different story and a different out come, I hope you have safe journey and just take it all in! Because I was a self pay I did not have to do the diet before and since last Wednesday I have lost 12.4 lbs...might be mostly Water but it is 12.4 lbs! Good luck! Sandi
  11. Congrats Nicole. My surgery date is also set for Nov 17th!!! Good luck with everything and take one day at a time!
  12. Hi, I am from the Vancouver area as well and I am getting mine done through Mexico Nov 17th. All I know is both of my friends used it against their taxes and both received roughly $2000.00 back...all we can do is try! Good luck with your weight loss journey!

Thanks everyone...I was going out after my husband got off work yesterday and I changed clothes 4 freaking times cause I was having one of those 'fat' days...I know this is the reason why I am doing this and I just have to stay focused and not read about all the negatives people keep complaining about! I am committed mentally and physically and can not wait for this journey to begin...thanks for all your support and please, ramble...it's what makes us who we are...lol
