I’m dreading Thanksgiving. I’m the cook in the house 😩 and I’ll still be on my pre op liquid diet (already having a hard time day 2 and cooking ). Then when Christmas comes along I’ll “hopefully” be in the first few days of purées .... que a few meltdowns along the way hahaha I hope I don’t hate the holidays in the next coming years or be frustrated.

    Pre-op cheating??

I also cheated 2 or 3 times before but tried to restrict it to proteins, or food that wouldn't knock me out of ketosis from the shakes. I think you are ok, but get back on the diet and make sure you're very strict in the days before the op because I think you need to be absolutely empty in the stomach. I lost about 10kg (22 pounds) in the 3 weeks before the surgery.

    Screwed Today = 1st Thanksgiving -

I have completed this feast - Way to much of a freakin head game for me to cook for all these people, but I am glad i did it and the feast is set to be served in a few hours, No i cant eat carbs or heavy foods right now but I am only 4 months pre Op - I would heave it up, but some of the veterans around here will jump in. Two spoons of my stuffing and i would be screwed, It was not as bad as i thought it would be and my kids are happy - Now its time for me to sip some vodka and hide by the TV. Let them graze and one thing for sure - THEY ARE TAKING EVERY BIT OF THE LEFTOVERS OUT OF THIS HOUSE - It was just a learning experience but i quickly seperated myself from the food and just did it as a job, If I did not due the surgery I would most likely never be able to do this for my grandkids, so i twisted it around in my head and vodka can fix the rest of the mental issues.

Now when I see MO people...

Okay so one of my friends almost died earlier this year and she’s currently needing to get on a heart transplant list, but they won’t even put her on the list due to her super-MO ( if I had to guess, I would say she’s at least 350+ pounds, and that would be a conservative guess). The answer her docs have come up with? Bariatric surgery to get off a hundred pounds or more, then she can be on a transplant list. Her prognosis without transplant? Not good at all. She’s 46 years old and they are telling her she’ll likely not see 50 without it. Her response? She’s still freaking “undecided” bc she doesn’t want to “lose her current relationship to food” It was an extremely rough convo for me to have bc she’s a highly intelligent woman, but I just can’t believe that she’s honestly thinking about allowing food to literally kill her. For the record, all I did was go over the pros and cons of WLS, and tried my best to not sound like I was trying to convince her, but dang it was tough bc i know what will happen if she doesn’t do it

    Week 3 Post VSG Troubles

You don’t mention your fluid intake. Dizzy + racing heart may mean dehydration. Are you getting in at least 64oz of fluid per day? At this point your hydration status is more important than food. If you can’t keep fluids down you may need IV hydration. You should call the surgeon’s office 1st thing tomorrow morning, don’t wait until Tuesday.

Well dont leave without finding out how to report and resolve it & don't sign anything you don't understand. Your family should assist with finding answers as you are still in an altered state. Safe recovery Good Luck 💙
