    Can I color my hair?

I don’t see why not. You’re not going to feel like taking care of those things for a week or two post-surgery. Good luck!

    Waist Trainers

I have several underwire camisoles that I wear instead of a bra because they create a smoother line and jeans/pants look better. I tuck them into regular panties with jeans and into a pair of shapewear bike shorts with dress pants. I think it helps a lot. I have the most luck finding them at a good price on eBay or stores like Ross Dress For Less and Marshalls. Target and Kohls also carry a line from Sara Blakely (originator of Spanx) called Assets which have a bit better price point.

    Puréed food ideas please help!

I'm on the puree stage right now. My favorite thing to eat is egg salad and sugar free cheese cake pudding. I add 2 scoops of gene pro to my pudding when I make it. It gives me 20g of protein per serving.

    Second thoughts

The changes can be pretty drastic... or at least they can seem that way. Work on getting upwards of 128oz of water, it helps, it really does. Not just with hunger and cravings, but with fat loss, since fat is water soluble you want to give you body more water than it needs to do it's normal daily business and the extra is for the fat processing, it sounds hard, but it's really not once you start working up to it. Second guessing is normal. Just keep reminding yourself of why you want the surgery. For me, I knew if I didn't do something, I'd end up dead sooner than later. And I'd kinda like to see my son's graduate college, get wives (or husbands of that's what they want) and maybe have kids (or adopt), I just knew I wasn't going to last going the way I was... dieting or not, it just wasn't going to be good in the long run. Focus on your future, not your past. Worry about the way forward, not the steps you tripped on already. And just remember, the ONLY person you EVER need to answer to, is yourself, if at the end of the day, looking in the mirror, you are happy with the day... then no one else can tell you you were wrong.

Low Carb/Fasting 14 yrs post op?

@erinlyle if you had the traditional DS, I don't really know anyone who fasts. What we do is eat. More protein and more liquid. I agree with lowering the carbs. That will definitely help with the weight loss. But having the DS was a way to stay away from things like fasting and dieting. Also, you need to keep the protein going for energy and to keep your gastric system eliminating waste.

    Weight gain

WLS is a tool. It's 100% up to you to work with it. If you don't have any motivation, you need to look somewhere else, it's not the WLS causing that. If your eating is out of control... reign that crap in, only you can do that. You've got 2 options. Do what you need to... or don't. It's your call. No one here is going to do it for you. Your WLS won't do it for you. You have to look yourself in the mirror and decide that you are no longer going to allow yourself to keep ignoring what needs to be done. Start over. Restart your Pre-op diet and follow it to the letter, pretend in you didn't have the surgery and are going to get it... start your pre-op, then fast the day of "surgery", then start working through your post-op diet. This will get you back into the swing of things and will "reset" your pouch/sleeve a bit. You have to be the one to make this work. So, make the decision to do it.

    Weight gain

A nine pound weight gain in two years isn't too bad Now it's time to work it off. Remember it's a lot easier to lose nine pounds than 20. Make it your goal to lose three pounds a week. In less than a month you'll be back to 185. From there you can work off more of you want. How is your restriction after 2years? One piece of advice I get from my nutritionist and doctors is to stay away from the carbs. They slide right through your restriction and you can over eat them. Instead stay with the proteins. i know as time goes by we tend to get back into the bad eating behaviors. Now is the time to reverse your weight gain while it's still manageable.

I have one word for you: LASERS! Better than electrolysis, way more effective! I did it about 8 years ago and within 4 treatments everything was GONE. I go back about once a year to do a touch-up cycle, and it is absolutely worth it. I was so thrilled that I also lasered my legs; my leg hair was so thick and coarse that even when I shaved it, you could see the stubble through the top layers of skin like ground pepper sprinkled on my shins, but I haven't even touched up on it in years and I have maybe four hairs that come in very thin. I'm in the same maybe-PCOS boat as you are, with all the symptoms except the actual damn cysts. When I finally snapped and started the lasers it was because I wasn't just irritated by shaving, I was getting a ridiculous number of ingrown hairs no matter what I did. And though I really hate to say it: I think my facial hair's come back a little stronger than it used to post-op. But maybe that's just my body temporarily freaking out, I don't know! And I'm going to zap it back into oblivion soon. One caveat: laser works best on dark hair and light skin. As a Translucent-American with very dark hair, this made me pretty much the ideal candidate; I can't say if Irish redheads or dark-haired Kenyans would have the same luck. For them, electrolysis might be the better bet. I know some groups don't mention that up front, so buyer beware.
