2 weeks post op and eating?

Not at all; your weight loss may be lumpy for the first few weeks as your body adjusts to the caloric deficit, but these are common things irrespective the dietary progression. Our program was on soft foods as tolerated along with the liquids and mushies from the hospital on out, and I doubt that my first month's loss would have been any different had I been on strictly liquids, other than from any difference in the calories (I was eating a lot better, and healthier, at a month than most. but was still close to a third of the way to goal at that point. People often/usually have a bit of a stall around 2-3 weeks out and frequently associated that with a change in their dietary progression that usually happens around the same time, but that happens to most everyone even if there was no change in diet - it's just part of the body adapting to living on a lot less. Enjoy the ride - our doc has found that generally patients do better as they move on to real food.

    Hi I’m new!

Hi. I joined recently too. My sleeve surgery was 12/28. Your weight loss is impressive - congratulations. I've followed the diets and only lost 11 pounds so far. A bit of a bummer but I keep reminding myself it's just the beginning. Wishing you continued success.

Does your country have (Danone) YoPro, a high protein yoghurt? 15g to 17g of protein in a 160g tub of (VERY) low-fat yoghurt. What about high protein beer-drinkers' cheese? 22% protein.

2 weeks post op and eating?

I am 24 days out and I am eating all kinds of stuff I didn't think I would be able to eat this quickly. I eat very small amounts, but I have been eating things like stuffed vegetarian grape leaves, deli turkey meat (Boar's Head Reduced Sodium is the best) rolled up with a thin piece of swiss, low fat string cheese, and even went to a vegan restaurant and had a piece of flatbread pizza with cashew cheese, roasted red peppers, and seitan sausage (it was the best thing I have eaten since surgery, and caused 0 pain!). Two weeks out I was eating lots of cottage cheese, mashed sweet potato, Amy's Organic lentil and vegetable soups (not pureed), but also some well-chewed nuts. I probably could have started deli meat then too but I was nervous. As far as slowing your weight loss, mine did slow down around the two week mark for about 4 days, but now it is picking up again. Like the poster above said, I think it is just your body adjusting. I eat about 300-500 calories a day now and I feel awesome. Best of luck and remember to eat slow and chew well whenever trying anything new! I got cocky recently with all my success and had my first piece of food get stuck from not chewing well enough. That sucked!

    No caffeine? Ever?

No, you will not have to give up caffeine FOREVER. I followed my nutritionist's instructions to a T. Started with cutting all caffeine out at 2 weeks propior to sleeve surgery. I love the taste of coffee, so I drank a couple cups a day of decaf. Then, in the first 3 months after surgery, I continued with my decaf coffee. I was allowed to start regular coffee at month 4. I did. Two cups a day in the several months following month 4 post op. I make sure I drink a lot of water during the day and evening, that is important through this whole post op journey, but especially when you start drinking caffeine again. I may get flack for this, but I drink 2 pots of regular coffee a day now, and have been doing so for a couple of months. I am 14 months post op and still losing with 140 pounds lost so far.

    Obesity Control Center

I had a sleeve from Dr Ortiz in 2013. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. My life changed for the better. I am 70 so I don't need to be a size 2 but I am very lucky that I can eat what I want and maintain a reasonable weight. My numbers are all excellent and I like the way I look. My experience at OCC was very good. My sister and brother in law are both physicians and went there. We are all great

    Failing already

So much this! If you have to do a liquid pre-op diet you can try doing what I did. I knew it was going to be tough so I tried to prep myself as much as possible. When I was a month away I started doing a liquid lunch at work. Some times it was just chicken bullion cube in hot water and a few saltine crackers. Even though it was difficult at first I knew that I would be getting food at dinner and taught me some tricks on fighting head hunger (and real hunger) during the day. Not saying my method was the best or right for you, but it helped me. Don't beat yourself up for failings. It's like people that beat themselves up when trying to quit smoking. Yes it sucks when you break a streak of going without a smoke, but we need to give ourselves credit when we go from a pack a day to having a single smoke after a week. This is much more mental than we think. Don't give up!
