I decided to go forward with breast reduction surgery even though I'm still 13 lbs from my goal weight. My plastic surgeon told me, in the first consultation, that it would be better to wait until I was done losing weight before getting plastic surgery. But right now my back is killing me and it keeps me from exercising like I need to. I can't wait any longer. The tentative date is Dec. 1st (pending on insurance approval). I have some questions that I hope some here will be able to answer. 1. What is the minimum amount of time I should plan on staying home from work? I need to minimize it because I had WLS this year and used up all my sick time. I'll be using vacation…

I had WLS In Dec 2011 (typo on collage, sorry) weighing over 300#; reached goal of 158 in Feb 2013 and currently maintaining at 140. I had plastics with Dr Sauceda in Mexico in Oct 2013 - lower body lift, arm lift, breast lift/augmentation and a small thigh lift (ie groin incision only - not down thigh).

Hi all, I am planning on getting a lower body lift and breast reduction, and am trying to do my homework to pick out physicians for consults. I've seen the recommendations to use real self.com, but I'm having difficulty navigating the site. I try to narrow it down by looking for plastic surgeons in the Philly area who perform lower body lifts, but I get lists of just plastic surgeons who do whatever, but not what I'm looking for. I see blogs of people who had the procedure, but none of them are local to me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I am ready to get an initial consult so I can start preparing financially to have an abdominoplasty and breast augmentation. I am intending on paying for the majority of my surgery with my Care Credit account and the rest will be cash. I am looking for a reputable surgeon in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX metroplex who takes Care Credit and offers the promos (i.e. same as cash interest free.) I could look on Care Credit's website but I would prefer to go to a surgeon that my Bariatric Pals have used and trust! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! i'm scheduled for my mommy makeover (tummy tuck, lipo and breast life - no implants). I have a few questions for the veterans, so any advice is greatly appreciated: 1) Should I rent a recliner? Rather than plop on my couch or bed with lots of pillows? 2) How much weight did you lose from the procedures? 3) How many days until the pain subsides? 4) Did the procedure help you continue to loss wait (i've read some studies where this continues to aid weight loss) I'm so so so excited, so I would love to hear your stories. Thanks again!

What extra charge/fee, after the insurance covered portion, did you have to pay for the vertical incision part of the TT, ultimately making it a fleur due lis? I was charged $2265. My surgery is in December. I was told that rhe vertical incision was not covered, nor was the compression garment.I was also told that I wouldn't be satisfied with a regular TT or panniculectomy because I would still be left with a lot of skin above my belly button (muffin top) and that I had a lot of vertical laxity as well as horizontal. Note: $65 of this charge is going for a surgical bra for a breast reduction in May of 2015. Has anyone else paid this amount? I'm wondering if this is a nor…

I did it! had my surgery on 9/1/14 in Mexico with Dr. Juan Pablo Cervantes in Tijuana. So far everything has been amazing. No real pain at all. I had it much worse plated out in my head. I stayed from Sunday (night before) and left Friday morning. Drains were removed Thursday and stitches will dissolve anywhere from 120/150 days. I'm to take weekly pics to send to him to review and he is available to me anytime I have a question or concern. Amazing difference!

I have been trying to find a good "trusted" doctor for a little plastic surgery. I would prefer to have it done in the US but its so expensive. I have been reading about surgeons in Mexico and came across two names that keep coming up as "great" doctors. So I went online to try and find out more. I saw great reviews until I came across this article "Dr Sauceda arrested for Cocaine possession and drug paraphanelia!!" The article was in 2012, but the posts are recent and state that he continues to use. Anyone know anything about this? Is there a good doctor anywhere that sincerely cares for their patients, doesn't charge an outrageous amount, and does a good job!?

Good morning everyone, I'm a year and a half out from my sleeve. I've lost 250 pounds!! As you can imagine, I have extra skin EVERYWHERE :-( and....unfortunately, I'm not indepently wealthy. Does anyone have some recommendations for solid foreign plastic surgeons? They don't have to only be in Mexico. Or if anyone in a similar experience found someone domestically that was reasonable or was willing to work with you? Thanks!

I know that this question has been practically beat to DEATH, but here we go again. If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP and you were approved for any sort of plastic procedure, what was covered? How much did you end up paying out of pocket? I found out that my surgeons office got an approval, but I'm not sure exactly what will be covered yet. Thanks!

I am a writer and obesity health activist known as My Bariatric Life and I am one-year out from my body contouring plastic surgery with Dr. Joseph F. Capella (Capella Plastic Surgery) and approaching one-year out from my facial plastic surgery with Dr. Catherine Winslow (Winslow Facial Plastic Surgery). I am 11-yrs out from my RNY gastric bypass with Dr. Vishal Mehta (Mehta Obesity Center). My words cannot do justice to the life changing transformation plastic surgery has been for me this past year. The physical changes were outstanding. From the plastic surgery I lost 50 inches and 50 pounds and 6 jeans sizes. I look about 15-years younger. Dr. Winslow gave me back a …

Sometime around 6 or 8 months ago I ran across a medical journal article concerning a study that showed that WLS patients who had plastic surgery afterward had a better chance of keeping their lost weight off than patients who did not have plastic surgery. I thought I had bookmarked it, but now I can't find it. I thought that I had found the link on here, but I can't find it by searching here, and I can't find it by searching Google or Google Scholar. Can anyone point me to the study. Thanks

I had a tt and breast lift 3 months ago. I have a new boyfriend and we will likely be intimate very soon. I still wear tape over my tt scars. I have no problem taking the tape off. I just can't decide if I tell him I've had plastics or not. My scars are obviously still very fresh so it's not like one won't see or in some cases feel them. Need your advice...do I tell him or not?

I was sleeved July of last year. I've lost about 120 pounds over the last year. I think I'm close to the point of needing skin removal. As the weight has come off, I have gotten sores and open spots on my stomach and thighs. It's gotten to the point that I'm afraid to do any kind of exercise because they get 100 times worse when I sweat and won't go away. I have no clue where to begin to try to get this done since I'm going to try to have my insurance cover it. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with my follow up appointments with my surgeon because his office is about 4 hours away from me. If anyone has had this done through insurance and can help me with where I would need…

I'm 10 weeks out from my LBL. I also has lipo on my outer thighs and the back of my legs. I noticed I have quite a bit of swelling in my calves and ankles, more in my left than right. This happens during the day and is worse by evening after I've been on my feet most of the day. Even if I haven't been on my feet all day they are still swollen. I do notice more swelling around my incision line and lower tummy after I workout. The swelling in my calves and ankles seems to be there even if I'm not working out. I did ask the doctor about this and he says it's normal and it could last up to a year. Has anyone else who had a LBL had this happen? If so how long did it last?

I can't believe it but in less than a week I'm having surgery! The works I'm not even nervous.(I will be if I decide to have a facelift afterwards) I bought bandages ,peroxide gloves and gauze etc. I'm ready. The only thing is my surgeon says I will not need to wear my bandages.. Little nervous taking two months off from the gym. And then if I have my facelift another two months. Does anyone have any tips. I want to make sure I'm fully healed. My surgeon doesn't even recommend in scar gel he said he just doesn't believe in it or some of the massage that the other surgeons recommend it.(they had spas attached to it their offices) In a year he does a technique to get rid of…

Hello All, I had weight loss surgery 3 years ago and lost about 140lbs. I am at a stable goal weight and tried by best to lose weight in a way not to have too much excess skin left, but of course there is some. My main problem area is my stomach. I work out now so able to handle most of the other places fairly well, but there's no way to get my abs to "bulk up" enough to make a dent in the excess skin. I don't need anything fancy, I just want to feel comfortable with my shirt off at the beach or pool with my kids. Does anyone have any recommendations of which type of surgery I should be looking into and does anyone happen to know of any good places in the Austin…

Hello. I had my scheduled panniculectomy revised to an abdominoplasty with fleur de lis incision. I was back and forth regarding the risks involved with an old, large gall bladder scar. I sought multipe consults and even discussed with my bariatric surgeon. I finally decided to take the leap with the fleur de lis. My tummy was a disaster with skin. I felt eventough I had reached a normal BMI, I was still wearing the "fat suit" I have heard other people talk about. I am completely okay now with the larger tummy scars as I did not plan on wearing a bikini. I am just so beyond grateful having the skin removed. So here is my issue: I also had a brachioplasty comp…

I'm 4 weeks post op from an extended TT, breast lift and lipo. I'm starting to get a little mojo back but couldn't be more thrilled with my results. I don't think I've dared to wear a bikini since I was a toddler. Starting weight 252 current weight 144 and 5' 1". VSG done December 2012. I'd like to see myself get to between 130-135lbs when all said and done. I can't wait to get back to the gym so I can work on these cottage cheese thighs. It's the only thing I think needs some work yet. I sure miss my Zumba!! This journey has been life changing. I'm so blessed to have the opportunity to focus on me!!

I am very happy with my results going to Mexico for body work, but i have a friend who wants to do a facelift and simply refuses to consider any Mexican surgeons. He likes Costa Rica though - wondering if anybody has suggestions on good surgeons with lots of good success stories there?! Facework, i worry so much about numbness, great results etc - even more concerning than body work in my opinion.

I'm having a full tummy tuck May 8th. My plans wasn't to have any type of plastic surgery at this moment in my life, but I'm at risk of developing infection since my tummy is extremely saggy & hanging low. My insurance is covering my plastic surgery tummy tuck. It will make me feel better & more comfortable in my body. I'm not having any other plastic surgery unless my insurance is going to cover it. I'm not made out of money & it's a miracle I'm getting this procedure done. I'm very bless & extremely happy

I have an old gall bladder scar the old way they used to perform it. I was told that you may not be able to have a full TT if you have that scar. Hi --- I have lost 90 lbs from my lap-band surgery and am very happy with my results but my breasts seem to have lost volume on the top and are sagging. You can't notice it when I am dressed and wearing a great bra but it's noticable in a bathing suit and when I am undressed. Has this happened to any other women on here? Have you had breast surgery? If so, did they put in an implant or just lift them? You can private message me on here if you aren't comfortable sharing on the forum. Thanks!
