Still little to no restriction after 1st fill

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on October 23rd. My first fill was on December 7th. I have lost a total of 25 lbs but I feel like I am doing it on will power. I want to see the 2 to 3 lb per week weight losses and it is just not happening without good restriction. How long does a doctor usually wait to do the 2nd fill. I NEED RESTRICTION!

Thanks!

It took me until about the 5-6 month post op mark before I got to an optimal level of restriction and really started dropping the weight. It takes a while to get to the right level of restriction. If you go from zero to full restriction rapidly, it will not work. You would be really sick.

My dr would let me come every 3-4 weeks, or based upon my need for restriction after some time. I could go every week or other week if I felt the need. I think this depends upon surgeons. You might just call and discuss your concerns and see when they might let you fill again. Hang in there! It's very common for you to feel this way at first!

You should call the doctor's office and tell them you need another fill. Each and every doctor's fill schedule vary. But if you say you need a fill they should listen to you.

FYI, Only in the first couple of weeks did I lose 3 pounds or more. The loss does slow down. Now I am lucky to lose 1-2 pounds each week and 1-2 pounds is what doctors say is normal.

I agree with the others that you should go ahead and call your doctor. Some keep their patients on a strict schedule, and others are more flexible about scheduling fills as the patient feels their necessary. I had one within two weeks of the other (I think between fill two and three). Generally, I waited a month between fills, but I had my last one that gave me great restriction that hasn't diminished much in August.

I, too, had no restriction after the first fill which was on 12/7/09. The only reason I think I went down another 1-2 pounds is because after the fill it was liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 2 days. My next fill is scheduled for 1/5/10. Fingers are crossed that this will do the trick.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
