I have a confession to make...

Recommended Posts

...so I'm at work yesterday getting absolutely slammed with stuff to do. I didn't take a lunch... heck I didn't even have time to go to the kitchen to get a 2nd glass of Water... I didn't bring my lunch either <bad girl>... anyway when I get home, I'm STARVING!!!! I mean the kind of starving where your stomach hurts, your head hurts, and you're nauseous.

So what do I do? Go to WHATABURGER of all places (side bar, I haven't been to Whataburger since a month before being banded) I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich combo, substitute the white bun for a wheat bun. I ate the WHOLE THING... plus the fries... plus a lemonade.

I went in for my first fill today... Dr. pulls out 0.8cc of saline that was ALREADY in the band. I was thinking, dang if I could eat that much with almost 1cc in the band just think of how much damage I could have done with it bone dry!!!

Anyway, later on I paid for it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't PB or anything, but I did get horrible shoulder pain and an even worse headache.

Lesson learned! As I'm typing this now I can slowly feel my stomach swelling around the now even more filled band.

Heh, you won't be able to do that again soon! Take it easy on your little newly filled band buddy. It needs some TLC and soft mushies for a few days. Slow down there, Tiger! Keep some snackage in your desk :)

Been there done that but since my first fill I can't seem to get the eating thing right yet. I have good restriction but I want to eat what I want when I want. But "poochy" (my bnad) says otherwise, she has the final say. Like Kathy said stick with soft mushy and stay away from the bread.< /p>

You may want to consider more liquids than mushies for a day or two, at least until the swelling has time to go down. If you aggravate it anymore the swelling will just take longer to go down. When you do eat mushies, it might feel better if they were warm, it seems to be more soothing, at least to me anyway.

I am impressed with how well you did with your little food feast yesterday. Ordering grilled chicken, good, whole wheat bun, good, fries and lemonade, not so good, but you already now that. Could have been so much worse!!! We need to stop apologizing for eating when we get famished. In situations like this you did what any one would have done, go for the quickest nourishment you could get your hands on. You even managed to make wise choices on the biggest diet killer, the sandwich itself.

I think you did great and remember, we don't change our lifestyles overnight and we can only do it step by step, which is exactly what you're doing, WTG!!

Instead of feeling quilty, you should be proud of yourself, you are off to a great start.

Cindy

Chichigirl is right on the money! Too much apologizing for mistakes that are made by everyone, skinny or MO. Acceptance of self is a step to change. You made decent decisions, how much more can one ask of oneself?

Good job, and good luck with the fill! Cindy

You didn't have an ice cream shake, you didn't have the super double greasy burger with bacon and cheese.

I have no idea what else is on that menu that you DIDN'T have, but it sounds like you did pretty good to me :).

Also, considering you didn't eat lunch, your calories for the day probably evened out (though I don't recommend skipping a meal to have a bigger one later, lol).

That shoulder thing gets me whenever I eat too much. It's like built in negative re-enforcement!!

Thanks guys. I came back to my senses after I had that fill yesterday. I only had Water & slim fast afterwards. Today I only had water, crystal lite, chicken broth, and now I'm having blended cream of chicken & mushroom soup... so blended that it's literally falling off my spoon like water.

I've been playing similar games with my band way too often. It scares me. Today so far all I've had are liquids. I hope I can make it all day on just liquids, but it IS Friday night, and booze is a liquid. Lord help me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
