Suggestion for Helping to Quit Smoking

Recommended Posts

I don't smoke, but I have noticed that alot of posters are having to quit before being banded and are having a hard time with it.

I get daily Feng Shui Tips from Ellen Whitehurst, they are usually on point for some event or occassion that corresponds to that day or sometimes they are just random.

Today's was about how to quit smoking so I thought I would share it...hope it helps.

Here is your Daily Feng Shui Tip for Thursday, November 19

'The Great American Smokeout' encourages smokers to quit the habit for just one day so they can see that they can actually do it and perhaps quit for a lifetime. A long, healthy and happy lifetime. But as anyone who has ever smoked knows, quitting is harder than anyone besides a smoker could ever imagine. That said, there are some 'tricks' or 'tips' that might make stopping a little less traumatic. Once you make the decision to quit and are weaning yourself off cigarettes, change to a brand that's much less appealing to you whenever you buy a pack. This not only reduces the pleasure you get from smoking, but will also affect your blood chemistry reaction, making it easier to eventually stop. Buy only one pack of cigarettes at a time while thinking of better ways of spending your money. Don't buy cartons while you're trying to quit. Smoke your first cigarette an hour later than you would normally start. Wait an hour longer than the day prior before lighting up. Lastly, take the nicotine out of your system by drinking a mixture of a half-teaspoon of cream of tartar and eight ounces of orange juice before retiring for the night. The tartar will help clear the toxins from your system while the orange juice replaces depleted Vitamin C. Do this for 21 nights straight and without fail cigarettes will begin to taste yucky and you'll begin to think it's easier not to smoke than to light up. As always, consult a medical professional when necessary.

Warm Regards,

Ellen Whitehurst

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
