JuneBugs 2008 - it's been a year and a half, how ya doin?

Recommended Posts

Are there still any June '08 BUgs out there? It's been a year and a half almost since out band dates. Would love to hear from everyone and how they are doing!

For me I hit my goal just about at the one year out mark and I've been maintaining ever since. I used to hate shopping but I love it now, it's so much more fun looking for sizes 8's & 10's than it was 24's 26's.

I am a little nervous about the holiday season coming up and maintainance, but I lost last holiday season I should be able to handle maintainance I hope.

Since banding surgery I have had my gall bladder out, and then in Oct of this year I had my knee replaced and now in a few weeks I am getting the other knee replaced. That's my biggest disappointment with the band and it's not the band's fault. I was so hoping as I lost weight my knees would get better. But, alas, I damaged them too much. So I am looking as the knees completing my transformation. I love being more active now and hated that my knees held me back. Plastic surgery? I'd love it but after 2 knees, I just won't have the funds for a long time for it. The excess skin isn't too bad. My stomach is fine it's my legs and droopy girls that bug me the most.

So how you doing? There were a couple hundred Junebugs at one point. Come back and check in!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
