So funny to sit down and this is the first thread I see. I bent over about 10 minutes ago to pick up my daughters shoes...and I gave the biggest, loudest burp since surgery. OMG did it feel wonderful! So much pressure was released! LOL

OH OH! I was actually coming on to post a thread and ask if this is normal. I can say full sentences in a burp now (yeah I've done it) and have been so burpy since after the surgery. It's constant!

So wish I could burp....it would be nice. LOL. I feel the pressure to but it comes out a lil', almost like a painful burp and sneeze at the same time. Hate that feeling.

I can't believe all of you are burping so much. I havn't been able to burp since surgery and in place of burping i do very very painful hicough things that shoot pain through my shoudlers. I WISH I WAS ONE OF YOU!!! The trapped wind pain is horrible and ongoing for me, its the cause of all pain and nausea... Funny how some of us burp so much and the rest can't burp at all. It really is a different procedure for each person :-)

Since everyone is posting that they're burping, I'd like to say that I wish I could!! I also would like to tell you the reason that you are burping so much is the gasses they used to inflate your stomach during surgery so the Dr. could see better. It tends to come out in gassy ways

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
