Will Tricare approve me (if I beg?)

Recommended Posts

You are reading the words of a very desperate woman! I am 25, and weigh 222 (4lbs more than last month, 25lbs more than last year) A personal trainer, gym membership, and several diets later and I'm still gaining weight consistantly (seems to be no medical reason for this but I recently found out that I gorge myself in my sleep, clean up the mess and go back to bed.) I have an appointment next month to see Dr ganta (he does single incision lap band) and I am terrified of being rejected through tricare. My BMI is 36%, I have elevated cholesterol, possibly pre diabetic, who knows (runs in the family) but my blood pressure is normal and I am not arthritic. Really dont know where to go from here if I am rejected (which I think I will be) Any thoughts on the subject?

Sorry to say but it doesn't sound like Tricare would approve you. The rules are you have to be 100 pounds over the recomended weight and then have 6 months of working with a dietitian (or your PMC if a dietitian isn't around). But try talking to your HAWC or PMC to see what they have to say. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
