I would be happy to be your buddy. I am 37 years old and will be having surgery on Dec 3rd. I started my pre-op diet yesterday. 1000 calories per day. It's tough. But I can do it. I have 95 lbs to lose.

I am having surgery 12/30. Let's stay in touch. I just got my date on Friday. I am so excited but nervous too. I hear all of the success stories & I think I hope that all goes smoothly for me also but I have that voice in my head that says "you can't do this, you can't hack it" But then I see the me I want to be in my head..... surely I can - I know I can! It's crazy what a range of emotions you have on top of everything else.

If you want a buddy or maybe several of us could buddy together. Good luck on this new journey!

ktims: I think we spoke briefly in the chat tonight but I am also having surgery on 12/30 so we are definitely going to be going thru this together.

My email is missnashville40@att.net if you want to email me and let me know how you are doing after the surgery.

I will need all the help I can get after to answer all the questions I may have.

I had my band on 12/22/09...i'm 27..thing is, i had the lap band before and had complications and needed it removed (was successful with weight loss) had the band out about 2 years and decided to put it back in. i had lost about 90-100lbs the 1st time and gained 25lbs in 2 years. i was constantly in and out of the hospital and i do have my share of stories. this time around i went to NYU, and my experience this time around has been night/day. the funny thing is, i feel like its my first time getting the lap band. I'm looking to do things differently and definately having a buddy.support system is one of them...if your interested let me know!!

good luck to everyone!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
