Recommended Posts

Wednesday I went to the all day pre-op class that my doctor's office requires and then we had our surgeries scheduled! I FINALLY have my date! I can OFFICIALLY say that I will be a December Bandster! YAY! I am SO excited and I am THRILLED that this is FINALLY on it's way! I have to do a two week liquid diet before hand that starts the day before Thanksgiving though......

Thanks Astramom! I'm SO excited! It's been a long fight and I am SO ready to get the band so I can start moving forward with the rest of my life and start LIVING again!

You will be so amazed at the results let me tell you. I have lost 36 pounds all together. 25 lbs since surgery. 36 with the pre admission diet. I have much more energy already. Although I have much more to go I think I most of it is confidence that I am actually losing for once and it keeps going instead of coming back. I like myself again.

Thanks for the encouragement! I can't wait to see the scale steadily moving again! I've lost 65 pounds on my own, but, now, it's getting harder and harder. I'm so looking forward to starting life again once I've lost the weight! There's a LOT that I used to do that I REALLY want to do again! I can't wait!

Wow, my surgery date is 12/9 also. (Small world ! LOL)

I am a little nervous, you know the unknown and all that. But from reading these sites I have learned a lot and it has eased my worry alot.

Good luck to you. I hope all goes well.

Pam

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
