Not much restriction or did I stretch my pouch?

Recommended Posts

I got the lap-band on 9/16 and am down 20 pounds so far - YAY!

But, after three fills of 1cc each (so I'm at 3cc's of fill) I'm still not feeling hardly any restriction. I was able to eat whatever I wanted for the first two fills and only feeling very minimal restriction with this last one.

My question - is this normal? If not normal could I have stretched my pouch ? If I did stretch my pouch what can I do to shrink it back?

Please help, I do not want to fail!

Thanks

Do you have a dietician assigned to you? If not you need to tell your dr.

I was feeling the same way.

You may be eating the wrong foods - you need to focus on slow digestion which means you need to understand everything from an expert who is working with you - and NO drinks OR Water BEFORE DURING OR AFTER MEALS!!!!!

You can be either too restricted, not restricted enough, or JUST RIGHT. Maybe you are just right???? Or maybe you need to change your eating habits???? talk to the pros. Only they know the answer to this after analysing your actions and intake.

I"m right there with you. I was banded on 9/24 and I still have no restriction  I don't think i stretched my pouch because i don't get a full feeling, nor and over full feeling. The food just seems to be passing through no problem at all.

I can't wait for my next fill! I have a 14cc band with only 5cc's in it - still a long way to go!

GL!

It is unlikely that you have stretched your pouch. 3 cc's is not that much. My doctor put 3 cc's in my pouch the first fill and then did .5 cc's each fill after. My sweet spot seems to be 6.5 cc's total. Just be patient as your doctors takes this cautious approach to find that sweet spot where you have restriction, but not so much you can't eat comfortably.

I'm curious what size band you have. If you have a 14cc band like most people being banded nowadays or even a 10cc band, then 3cc really isn't gonna give you much restriction.

I'm sure you haven't stretched your pouch with such little restriction. If you get your fill under fluorscopy your doctor will be able to tell if it is stretched or slipped.

Don't worry, I'm sure you just need more fill.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
