Hi!

New Balance never have fit me right for some reason. I know that so many people swear by them.

For me Nike fit the best, Puma also. I read that running shoes are the best to get for all over exercise because they have a lot of cushioning. I think especially if you are overweight that is important.

I am actually trying to find a pair of Nike right now. I want the LunarGlide in white/turqoise, and everyone seems to be out of it in my size, even Nike.com. I'll check a few more stores... someone has to have it!! Otherwise I might get one of the Shox series. I think my current shoes are wearing down. They say to replace them every 6 months or so, I am LONG overdue! I have others but love my Nike's!!

it depends on what you are doing... for example, if you are running mostly, you should get running shoes.

if you are going mostly aerobics etc., you will want a cross trainer.

i run mostly so i use running shoes. i have wide-ish feet so i have the brooks adrenaline (wide toe box!) and i love them. however, i know that i am a pronator so i need the extra support. you should consider going to a running store and getting fitted for shoes. if it's something you plan on getting into for the long term.

I dont like new balance shoes either, both times i had a pair, i started developing ITB problems in my left knee.

I'm on my fifth pair of Brooks Adrenalines - wide, slightly inward rolling feet, they suit me perfectly. I dont even try anything else, just go and buy new ones.

Lots of people swear by Asics too but they're too narrow for my feet.

but it depends what you're doing - I'm a runner, I wouldnt need such stability if I were doing the elliptical and gym, a more neutral or cross training shoe would do me fine.

I love my Asics, but you really do need to go try on different brands and styles within each brand. It's surprising how different they fit and feel on your feet. Also, if you have a good running store, that was a good suggestion to have them fit you.

I LOVE Skechers, I have about 4 pairs. I have 2 pairs for working out, and 2 pr.s of Skechers shoes to wear daily. They are so cute, and fit my wide-ish feet.

Many stores carry them now, and I have even bought a few from QVC when they where TSV's.

Okay, maybe one of you can answer my question! If I go to a runner's shoe store, can they help me with this problem:

I have Haglund's Deformity in my left foot -- it's a big Calcium deposit under the Achilles tendon on the big bone of the foot that creates the heel. I had it on my right as well, but when I ruptured my Achilles tendon, they chiseled the deposit off. So, now my feet aren't exactly the same size.

If I buy a shoe to fit my left foot comfortably, the right foot ends up with a shoe that moves up and down. Can they build up the inside of the heel so that the shoe stays in place?

that sounds like something that would require an orthotic of some sort, no?

most running shoes' insoles are removable (you can check with the staff at the store.. they should know) and you can put an orthotic in the right shoe instead. would that work? obviously, you would have to go get the orthotic made by a podiatrist but you get the gist...

i could be completely wrong about this, however.

Would you consider surgery on the left foot? I had this problem as well, in my teens and it made any closed in shoe very uncomfortable. I had both feet done at the same time, fun fun fun. But it never recurred.

:cursing:

Shoes are expensive so instead of buying lots of pairs and deciding that you don't like them, I would suggest going to a specaily store that sells athletic shoes and running shoes. Where I live there is a Running/New Balance Store that is great. Bring your current shoes, tell them what you like/dpn't like about them. They should watch you walk bare foot and examine your feet. If its a good store, they will bring you shoes that will work best for you to try on. I love New Balance, but they are not all made the same. I have a wide toe box, and they shoes they picked out for me are perfect! Great arch support and they don't rub anywhere!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
