DOB will be my DOB. Have questions.

Recommended Posts

Yes, that says my date of banding will be my date of birth! It's so cool. I'm having it done on Dec 3, my 30th b-day by Dr. Rumbaut. I'm so excited, and nervous! I'm doing it with a friend which will be nice.

I am 29, 5'4" 264lb no co-morbidities with great blood pressure. So no real health reasons for this, just aesthetics basically.

Does anyone have any experience with breastfeeding? I'm nursing and wondering about the effects of all the drugs from the surgery day. I don't have good luck pumping. I'll be gone for 6 days so I don't even know if she'll start back up when I get home or not. But I want to make sure it's safe if she does.

Also, can I take something for the flight, anti-anxiety type stuff? I get a bit clausterphobic and this will be the longest plane ride I've ever been on!

Thanks :)

Hi and welcome to LBT. I wish I had known about weight loss surgery when I was your age. It is wonderful that you are having it done now, and with a friend too! I don't really know the answer to your breastfeeding question, but perhaps someone in our pregnancy forums would be able to help you out with that.

Oh, and happy birthday, I can't imagine a better present to oneself!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
