Diarrhea and stomache ache

Recommended Posts

I've had my lap-band for 19 months now and for the past 2 1/2 months I have been having diarrhea/stomach aches everyday. So I went to a gastro. Dr. and am to get a colonoscopy and an endoscopy in 2 wks so went to my lap-band Dr for a total unfil for my endo. Well, that very day I did start feeling better after my unfill, I only had 5.5 in my band so I didn't think it would make such a difference in how I felt but it did and now I don't have the stomache aches anymore and the diarrhea is gone. I really think it's my band that was making me feel this way. Has anybody else experienced this???

Thanks,

Alice

Hi Alice,

I am only 9 days post-op. The first 2 days I had trouble having a BM at all. After that, when I introduced non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, sugar-free liquids to my diet, I have had diarrhea and stomach upset (gas) every day and sometimes a few times a day. The BM's are normal looking - no blood or anything. However, it is annoying to go through each day this way. Not exactly sure why.

Good luck to you.

Renee

I am wondering if it could be the sugar free items you are eating (to the 2nd person on post). They have sorbital and that can sometimes cause that problem if eaten in quanity thruout the day.

Thanks, I thought about that too. Who knows? I have GasX to see if it will help. Starting mushies on Tuesday! YAY!

You could also try adding extra Fiber to your diet. Adding extra fiber to my diet has helped me tremendously since I had my gallbladder out. I was having stomach issues every day until I added fiber.

Not really, but i'm a lot more prone to gastrointestinal upsets than I used to be before a band. I tend to get very windy and bloated with things like plane trips, for example, that can take days to settle. It drives me nuts.

Great! I'm glad to hear that. I bought some benefiber recently too, and was shocked to see that it really didnt have any sort of taste effect to what I put it in. I put it in my coffee and can't even tell it's there. Its a great product.

I know isn't it amazing that you cannot even taste it at all? I put it in my coffee, applesauce, crystal light, tea... can't tell it's there. It is by far a great product. Helped with my diarrhea stat. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
