No One wants to hire me!!! Weight?

Thanks Kare for offering a great optimistic viewpoint on this whole thing. I refuse to believe that most employers discriminate against overweight people. I had been 300 pounds for quite some time and never had a problem finding a job. I'm not saying, KrzyGirl, that it's not because of the weight that you haven't found a job yet, but I AM saying maybe there are more factors involved that you're not aware of. It could be that the excess weight is having an effect on your confidence level, which is showing up during the interview.

I do somewhat disagree with Barb on #3, however. I think an interview is just as much about what the company can offer you as what you can offer them. An interview goes two ways. HOWEVER, I don't think an interview is an appropriate time to bring up compensation and benefit packages. But whenever I go for an interview I like to find out as much about the job and the people working there as possible during the interview (and definitely before the interview). When I interview others I'm ecspecially impressed if they seem truly interested in finding out more about the job, not just spurting off their accomplishments. Get a feel for it during the interview.

Well i appreciate all the great opinions and views...lemme clear something up....I have confidence....and when i wasnt as heavy i NEVER had a problem getting a job....only now when im 345lbs am i having a prob getting a job. The job i want is an office position, receptionist or admin assist. Im 22 and overweight.....so the HR people see young and overweight and cant seem to look at my qualifications. I am VERY qualified......

Now this may not be from my weight but i can pretty much assume most of the jobs i lost because of this and some of them might have been just a chance thing that someone a little more qualified than me applied. Either way......i was more or less putting this post in to see if anyone has gone through the same thing as me. I have no intention of ever suing anyone for my weight...unless they straightup said "u cant have this job cuz ur fat" then i might sue...lol...

thanks for all the responses

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
