Beating myself up was not justified

Recommended Posts

Well I have been beating myself up for about the past 7 weeks. I lost 20lbs with preop and a few weeks after surgery, then for the next 7 weeks absolutly nothing. I went for my first fill on Aug 5th thinking I might have a little restriction but nothing. I go in for my second fill on Sep 2, and Had not lost or gained a pound, but Found out that my band is leaking. They put in 5cc on Wednesday and by the next day it was already down to 2cc. The plan is to wait another 2 weeks to see if anymore is leaking. I want to scream I am 2.5 months post op and haven't even gotten to restriction. And I will have to have surgery to correct it which means another 6 weeks post op with no restriction. I just want to scream. Sorry for the ranting I am just so annoyed at the whole thing. I will not give up, I am in this for the long haul just hard to stay motivated and eat right and do the right things when my damn band isn't doing its job. Any words of advice would be appreciated..Thanks

you have no controll over the mechanical issues that you have had...don't beat yourself up..its a great tool when it works like it should..Until then, smile and know you are on the right road..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
