Hi Pam,

Give it a few days. It takes a couple of days sometimes for a fill to kick in. No one knows why this is, but it is. Also, if this is your first fill, you may not get the restriction you are looking for. I had no restriction my first fill and finally got some on the second fill. Everyone is different and needs different fill levels. It can take anywhere on average from 3-5 fills to feel good restriction, so hang in there!!!

Another thought, did your doc ask you to stay on liquids for any length of time after your fill? If so, well, liquids won't restrict easily. When it's time, test out your fill with solid but well-chewed foods and you may feel a difference. Be careful though. Just when you think that little band isn't there, it makes itself known with one unchewed or too big bite. Ouch!

Hi Pamdin,

I havent had my first fill yet and I am curious how this works out for you. Let us know if/when it kicks in.

Even though I have no fill, every once in a while I have that pain (the one that lets you know it's there) and I know if that feeling were there all the time, I'd be afraid to over eat or under chew! So, I gotta get a fill soon!!!

For me my first fill did nothing - my second fill did too much - had a partial unfill and now just a little better than after my first fill. Its not an exact science so you may not feel anything and will need to schedule your 2nd fill in a month.

It can take 3-5 fills to get you to the right restriction, so hang in there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
