Restriction with One Fill? Be-still my beating heart

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery on June 30th and my first fill one month later. I went to my Dr. yesterday for what was supposed to be my second fill. But I was down 12 pounds since the first one and she said, basically, why screw around with success. I actually have pretty good restriction with 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I know that some people have been upset when their dr. won't give them more restriction but I am thrilled. If I can continue to lose without more of a fill then That is great. But I know I will probably need another one next month (she also said this).

Of course, last night I got stuck on a damm piece of cucumber. Boy was I sick for an hour.

Has anyone else else found restriction (at least for a while) with only one fill?

I have had two fills but am only at 6cc. Your first fill of 5 put you ahead of most people. There are some with the band that never get a fill and do well. You'l hear this all the time "everybody is different and weight loss is a very individual thing and no two people are the same." Your doing great and that's all that really matters.

Thanks for your answer. I have seen some people who say that their drs. start them off with a small fill and it takes a while to get to 5 cc. I was surprosed but happy when my dr. gave moved me to 5 at my first fill. There was actually about two in there from surgery.

Best of luck to you.

I have had 3 fills but am still only at approx 3ml so I can understand why you don't feel at this stage you need any more.

Everybody is different and so are their doctors. If you are losing well and can still eat then there is no reason for you to have to get more Fluid put in.

I was one of the lucky ones that had restriction from the get go. I had 3cc put in at the time of surgery. If i could offer one piece of advice it would be that when you feel you are ready for that next fill, go with a small fill because you can always have more added in a month. Its alot easier going small then dealing with the problems and issues that come with being even slightly to tight.

I have a 10cc band. It was left empty when placed. I've had 3 fills at 1cc each. I have 3ccs total and I'm about at goal weight. I can't do breads well so I know I have restriction. I would not tolerate another fill. I feel I have enough restriction. 3ccs in a 10cc band and food journaling (thedailyplate.com) has gotten me to goal.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
