Yay for friday, and let's keep up the good eating!!

we can do it!!!!!!

OMG, Laura, you have NO idea how much I needed to see that right at this second! I'm sitting here working, thinking to myself, "I'll go make a cup of coffee and have just a small piece of the warm cinnamon bread that just came out of the oven." + all the rationalizations WHY I should have it & that I can just try again tomorrow to be good... so then that leaves me the whole day today to eat like crap...

THANK YOU!

I can do this. I can do this. I want to. I need to. I really want to. Then why is it STILL so rickin' frickin' hard EVERY DAY dammit!?!?!?! Ugh.

I'm trying the approach of... when these moment occur... to just do NOTHING. Nothing. The thought doesn't require an action. Just keep working. Don't even get the coffee. Just keep my mouth shut and do nothing.

But your reminder really helped! It was as if you wrote it just for me! THANKSSSSSSSSS!

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that . . . I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen!

Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and the tape would come undone. Cause - that's how we rolled, dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror. And then there's TEXTING . yeah , right. You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collection agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel! NO REMOTES!!!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or before!

Regards,

The Over 30 Crowd

(Send this to someone you'd like to make smile, whether they are under 30 or not.)

Good evening, Violets...

We're back from Great Wolf Lodge. Had a super time, but would have loved to have tubed down the Lazy River more. Ethan didn't think that was a whole lot of fun. He liked the kiddie slide more and of course the Water is only knee deep there so I just sat on the edge and dangled my toes in the water. I didn't get much exercise in, but I sure did well on the eating!! Jami had a huge cake for Everett's 10th birthday. It was 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 white with the whipped frosting that is so yummy. Well.. I didn't have any .. not a single bite or even a finger stuck in the frosting. And after we went swimming, we went to the cafe for ice cream. Jami and family ordered a huge sundae to share with their family on one side of me, Ethan had a single hot fudge sundae and Kris and Nathan had a chocolate fondue on the other side of me. I had .......nothing.... nada. It was a little awkward sitting there watching eveyone eat, but I made a promise! So we'll see how the scale reads on Sunday. Tomorrow is Grady's first birthday party and Kris has a huge cake, but I already told her I wasn't having any. I might take an orange with me so I don't sit there drooling.

I finished 120 pages in my Stephen King book. It's soooooooooo good. Heather, if you like Stephen King, you'll love this one. I shook my head on every page at the beginning. When you read it, you'll understand why.

Off to watch some Olympics and then read some more.

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Hello Girls~

Woke up to the beautiful sound of rain...LOVE IT on Saturdays! The bad thing (or could be a good thing) is that I am supposed to work at the Black History Month Festival for the Human Rights Commission. I kinda don't wanna go...so I am hoping for more rain. It will suck to sit out there for 2 hours in the rain.

Then tonight...going to the Adam Lambert concert!!!!! SOOO excited to see him. My friend Stefanie is picking me up and we are going to dinner out there (it is about 25 min away at a casino). I am soooo looking forward to it!!!

Susanne is going to take a test for the TSA (airport security) in Riverside (which is about an hour away...other direction) this afternoon. So today...we are both going in opposite directions, which is not something we like to do often on a Saturday.

We get the keys next Friday, March 5! We do our quality walks at 10am and then get the keys later that afternoon!!! Susanne's birthday is Saturday March 6. We are not getting gifts for each other for the next few years. But...I am gonna get her a cute new keychain to go w/ the keys of the house! I am going to go by Hallmark today to get something special. Put it in a cute little box, can't wait!

Monday I am off because I am the "principal" again. I like to get out of the classroom from time to time...but they work hard all day! Then we have a minimum day on Thursday for meetings...and then, Friday off for the keys! Not a bad way to start March!

That is all that is going on w/ me! Sorry for the book...just haven't checked in w/ ya'll in a while!

LOVE YOU GIRLIES!!!

Busy busy as always...

I told my sis "no" to the trip... but of course they are taking it as a "no for now" and assured me that I can change my mind up 'til the last minute... we'll see... the kids now say they want me to go! I may make a deal w/myself that if I work X hours, go to the gym X times, and lose X lbs in March, then I can go! It would certainly be motivation!

Speaking of work... time to get to it! Make it a great day, everyone!

Judy -- AMAZING willpower! Simply AMAZING!!

Pam -- Have fun @ the concert!

Good afternoon, Violets..

Kind of a lazy day here today. Kris called this morning to make sure she had enough food and I offered to make............butternut squash!! You got me thinking about it, Janie!! Just got it whipped up with butter, salt and pepper. I know what I'll be eating instead of cake.

I forgot to say what the biggest temptation was yesterday. When the group went to play video games, I stayed in the room all by myself to read my book. It was me and the leftover cake. It kept calling my name, but I kept ignoring it. Hope I can do the same today.

So far for eating today I've had a chicken breast stuffed with broccoli and cheese from Schwans. No breakfast.. I didn't have any tuna ready.

We are heading out in an hour. I'll be taking the camera and the flip. I can't believe the little guy is going to be a year old already. He's such a little boy now instead of a little baby.

Everyone have a good day.

Michelle... great motivation for for you!! Keep your eye on the prize! You CAN do it!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
