Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Good morning, Violets..

It's a cloudy day out there today with an inch of snow predicted for us. How does that sound to you, Michelle???? Hope you get some good news on Mo today.

Janie.. you have a good day today and know we all love you and support you!!

Grady will be here in a couple of hours and that's it for me today until singing rehearsal tonight at 7. I need to get my tax stuff together for our accountant and get my ring sent back to Hawaii to be repaired. Good thing there is a lifetime guarantee. The prong broke and I lost a diamond chip.

Off to find some Breakfast and get ready for the boy child to arrive.

Everyone make it a good day today!!!

I can't agree more w/what Judy & Pam wrote, Janie... I'm right there with you... it's such a head game, no matter how small our stomachs are! But we haven't failed until we give up -- hope springs eternal and every day IS a new chance to make the right choices... every meal... every moment! We're all amazing woman and I'm GLAD I'm fat because it's how I came to know & love each of YOU! (Now if I could just know & love you as a svelter woman... :cursing:)

Yes, we are in the bulls-eye for the next storm converging over the mid-Atlantic... it's supposed to begin this afternoon... estimates now range to about another 20" on top of the 25ish we got over the weekend. My mind can't comprehend that much snow! It doesn't want to!

We're supposed to pick up Mo today, hopefully before the snow flies. Other than that... more hunkering down and indoor activities... can you say "cabin fever"? It was fun at first, but now... :(

You can kinda tell that we're tucked back off the main road in the pine woods... & get a feel for our long driveway... it's a lovely location -- in the Spring, Summer, and Fall!

Funny way to look at it, but yes, glad I am fat so I met you guys LOL!!!

Day 1 of liquids went well. Judy, I don't have that test anymore, and not really going off of that. I PB a lot and I KNOW I have good restriction, but I keep shoveling it in. Trying to eat like I use to. And it's getting easier and easier, so I figure I am at risk of stretching it. So I figured I'd go a week on liquids, to potentially shrink it down and more-so get my head back in the game.

After a week of liquids, it's easier to make good choices for me!!

And this info came late in the game, but Carson's godmother's gf is an x-ray tech. She said she can give me free x-rays!!! They won't be read by a doc, but if I'm paranoid (like now), it's local and free, so I know if I need to trek down there for a real one.

Michelle, I love that house...it looks beautiful in the snow like that. I am sure driving in it is a pain in the butt, but your house looks like a xmas card!

Back to Lucy and Klausy! We had a nice walk and I am heading back to the couch. Later, I have planned a check in w/ my Kindle...still reading The Open, by Andre Agassi. It is great, but I haven't read it in weeks!

xoxo

Laura, what liquids? Any thing liquid?

So our insurance goes up to 1k a month March 1, so I've desperately tried to find a better company rate. Nothing that saves enough to swap. Now I am looking into coverage outside of the company for us as a family. We can't afford 1k a month, I'm so stressing. BCBS offers Individual plans outside of companies, and our quote is $457 a month for our family... the big catch, they have to approve you-health wise. And for the first year they don't cover anything major basically. No babies for a year :cursing:

Fingers crossed we get approved, she said it takes 2-3 weeks to process, I really really need to know before March 1!!!! I think the lap-band might screw us up.

But I marked on the application that if either adult isn't elligible, to give me rates for just Carson. Then we could go to Individuals at work (like $300 per person + Carson on his own). Still cheaper than 1k a month!

But YOUR new house has a sunset over the pool/hottub... & that trumps snow-house ANY day! :cursing:

Yep, that pretty much looks like our patio furniture, too! & now it's happening again! Ack!!

We brought a very groggy Mo home at about 2pm... then he & I snuggled on my bed for a bit... now he's up in his little "apartment" (our bathroom, all tricked out w/his special food, Water, flannel sheet nest, & litter box) while I make dinner, etc., for the eve.

The bill was more than $1,100.

But wait -- it gets better! We have to take him BACK... either Thurs or Fri... whichever day the roads are re-cleared & we can get there... for another x-ray & then, depending on what's still there, another round of knocking him out & pulling it out.

I baked "kitchen sink" Cookies (choc, white choc, and butterscotch chips) for the vet's office today & they loved them. I asked if I could simply bring in 1,100 cookies & we'd call it even. Yeah, no go.

Plus he'll be on this special food AND more of the med he's already on + a new one... ka ching! ka ching!

So I'm getting my money's worth in snuggles and kitty lovin'!!

Good evening, Violets..

Got my tax info organized so now we can call and make an appointment with our accountant. Lots of snow warnings, but they are all to the south of us. We are only supposed to get an inch or two. Southern Michigan should get up to 9 inches. Can't believe how the storms are missing us. That just never happens.

I have a singing rehearsal tonight. We are meeting at a retirement home to practice so they can listen to us since most of them can't get out when we have our concerts. We are also looking for new concert wear. One of the ladies picked out a few things and they were pretty scary. I went online and found some really lovely blouses so I hope we can agree on something. My flute quartet also want's a new outfit so there is more money for clothes!! At least I don't have to look for the very biggest sizes anymore, but I still have to be careful of buttons and seams and all that good stuff.

Michelle... YIKES!!! Big bucks for a little cat. But you do what you have to do.. they are so much like children to us, aren't they?? My friend who passed away last Nov. spent $10,000 on her cat...I can't believe how much she did for that cat, but she didn't have any children and she loved her cats!!

Off to rehearsal. Will check in when I get back.

Laura, insurance does suck. I sing the insurance blues way too much................Good luck!!

Went to get a fill today and ended up not getting one. She did a barium swallow and said my esophagus looked okay, but my pouch was a bit dialated, so no fill.

I check the airline prices everyday for Houston and it is down $8 to $230. HHHmmmmmm.

Michelle, that is so crazy with how much the stuff with Mo is! Your house looks so pretty!!!!!!!!!!

Are you feeling better Pamela??????

Okay off for typing of minutes and stuff.

Good Morning, Violets..

Well, looks like we got about 4 inches of snow last night and it's still snowing. So much for just an inch. Bob left to go to work at his church. Hope the roads are plowed for him!

Not much on the agenda today. I need to go to the bank and UPS and then just regular household chores now that I'm by myself all day.

Everyone make it a good one!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
