Just stopped to say hello and thanks!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi, Just thought I would drop a quick hello and a big thank you to everyone on this site. I'm getting banded on Oct. 24th. I was getting really worried for a while, "Was I making a big mistake?", "Am I nuts? this is major surgery and a huge change in my life." I was getting really scared but I found your site and after reading your threads I feel so much better. I now feel like I'm prepared to face what is to come. Keep that support going people, "You do a body good." :(

I would like to say the same thanks! I'm feeling much better about my surgery on Oct. 11th now! Thank you all for the advice!

Jladybird- our surgeries are so close! We should try to keep each other informed. Please e-mail me- maybe we could help each other along the way. Where are you having it done?

Everyone else-have some more of the "inside" advice that you think would be useful to us having the surgery real soon?

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Hi Shanmnband. That sounds like a great idea. I'm getting it done by Dr. Neal in Shelton, Wa. Seems like a really great doctor and clinic. Good luck on the 11th, from what I hear you should do great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
