3 Quick Questions Please

Recommended Posts

1. On a daily basis, I can go from having like zero restriction to the next day having too much restriction, is that normal? For instance, I hadn't lost in about three weeks and got to the point where I really could eat anything, and much more than the 4oz so I made a fill appt., but then this week, I have been very tight.... I feel stupid going in tomorrow for a fill, when right now, I have restriction - but for the past three weeks I've had zero.

2. Last fill I had, the doctor had trouble putting Fluid in... anyone else experienced that?

3. I felt lightheaded (don't laugh) last time holding the needle and havin him poke and prod and move it around to find the right spot... Should I let him know prior this time?

Hi Steve. Well, if you were a lady I could say maybe the tightness was due to the time of month, so that is out. When you say that this week you are very tight, what do you mean? Can you eat less? Are you eating the same thing you were eating when you could eat more? I ask bc sometimes I can eat tons of crap (Cookies, chips, etc), but a pork chop or something like that...no way. I would go in for a fill and describe your restriction to the doctor and let him decide. 3oz is a pretty tight restriction, and for me...I have been able to eat 1-2 cups a meal, even with a moderate restriction. It might depend on how tight you would like to be.

As for #2. What was the problem? could you doc not find the port? If this is the case, I think that happens to a lot of people on here. Most docs find the port, take all the Fluid out, and then put new fluid back in.

#3. Yes. Tell your doc.

Hope some of that helps,

AMy

Hydration would be the first thing I would check out. Are you getting enough water/decaf liquids? Water is a MAJOR culprit in many "psycho" bands. If you aren't getting well hydrated try that for a day or two and see if it doesn't help fix the problem

And YES...tell him you felt lightheaded. That's nothing to be ashamed of and in fact something he'd need to know. Oxygenation and circulation are biggies in the medical field!

I agree. Tell your doc about the lightheadedness. I used to get like that. When I first had surgery, my port was very hard to find. Turns out it was tilted and got better with weightloss so that now, I do not experience that problem. All the poking and prodding to find the port would cause my blood sugar to drop (along w/ not eating beore the fill) and that was why I was lightheaded.

Restless - I'm dying here laughing at Psycho band. Boy does that describe mine to a T!!

I am tight in the morning, have something warm to drink then I am fine, then tight again in the evening. My doc's office suggested something warm again before dinner to help, but they also asked about my Water intake and I told them I had been getting less than I should. They also advised too little Water could be the problem.

OP - What did your doc say/do?

I went in today and he took out 1cc and that seemed to help a bit. I think I am the one who screwed up though. At the end of day two, I had some chicken at night - maybe that caused some swelling, I dunno... Anyway, he said I may get lose once the swelling goes down, and may need a fill again, but to wait about 3 weeks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
