Can Running Shift Band?

Recommended Posts

After losing 65 pounds i have now gotten to the point where i can start running again. I started my running program on Sunday. Since i have started running i have noticed that i am not able to eat or drink anything without throwing up. Has anyone else had this problem? Has my band shifted? Idon't want to give up the running as this is what gets me in shape.... but i also do not want to spend all my time hunched over the toilet. Any one who has had eperience with this i would appreciate hearing from!

Thanks! :D

There are LOTS of bandsters who run. I'm up to "wogging"...lol, walking with little spurts of jogging.

I say, call your doctor to discuss what's happening. It could be nothing more than a stomach bug...or something else. Best to know. And, it's not good to be throwing up, so it's time to check in the professionals and figure out what's going on!

Good luck!

After I started to jog again after dropping 100 lbs I did notice that for a little while I had pain in my port area or discomfort. It went away but if it continues call the doctor.

I would call your doctor and schedule a visit. Sometimes right after a run I am a little tight, depending on how hydrated I am, but I have always been able to drink and eat.

I started running in October and I had some port pain, but never any pain with the band itself. The port pain did subside, but I did take a 2 week break to give my tummy some time to adjust and I haven't looked back!

I hope you are feeling better and have been able to get back on the road!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
