October 2009 Here I come

Recommended Posts

My surgery is two weeks from today and the only liquid diet I've heard about from my surgeon is the 2 weeks AFTER the surgery. I know that there isn't one uniform plan that everyone follows, but what is the benefit for being on liquids before the op? Maybe it's something I should do for myself even if he didn't require me to? Tho I don't know that I could last weeks and weeks on Clear Liquids - the 2 weeks post-op now seems like forever. Advice?

I was told not to diet. But, for myself I fasted 48 prior to surgery. Fresh veggie juice day 1 and Water day 2.

I think I didn't have to diet because my BMI was low.

But, I can also say I am feeling great with no complications!

Go with yuor gut. Good luck!

Hello all you October bandsters ! Just wanted to congratulae you all on taking the best step you could ever take ! Yes it can be a scary process the whole surgery thing and yes the first week is hard with the gas and uncomfortable feeling but I can tell you that 10 weeks out you fill feel AWESOME !! To see the pounds come off and finally feel like you are in control of your eating not a victim to it is the most incredible feeling in the world...in a couple of weeks you will be so happy you took this step. Please feel free to ask any questions (mrscutecuban@gmail.com) and I will gladly help out however I can.

Hi Everyone! I was banded on 10/22 and although I am a little sore I am doing well. I was able to spend the night in the hospital and went home the next afternoon. My doc did have to repair a severe hiatal hernia too. I am going to go back to work tomorrow for a half day. Take care everyone :cryin::wink2:

I had my surgery in Mexico 10/16, and i am feeling pretty good. I have had some reflux, which is a little scary, but I think it is from drinking too much at a time...

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
