I am new to banding, had it done 3 weeks ago and have lost 14 lbs so far...have hit a plateau but that is expected I guess!!! It has taken me years to put on the weight but want it to come off in DAYS!! I feel great & am inspired by the comments & stories from all of you. So good to find a 60s group. In fact, the entire site has been a blessing as you have helped answer questions... I have been lurking since the day before surgery!:(

Welcome! It's been just over a year since I had my lapband surgery. It's the best thing I ever done for myself. Hang in there! All good things take time.

Karenin..you have done great in a year.. I am 6 months out, had mine in feb and i hope i can do as well.. My biggest problem is i dont work and i have a bad hip, so i do not get any exercise.. I heard the wi fit was good and i am going to try to attemp bike riding, dont know if i can handle that one yet. But all in all this was the best thing i have ever done for myself and i feel wonderful again and it is only going to get better.

Congratulations on being banded and losing almost 40 pounds so far. Check with your doc about some exercise suggestions. The doc that treats my bad knee and hip told me that biking was good and Water exercise. However, everyone is different, so it's best to check first. Best of luck to you. I know you can do it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
