I tend to agree with you and I promise to stop responding.

Babs-

Great idea about locking the thread.

I think an even better idea is that everyone stops responding to Nykee. Obviously there is some serious mental illness going on here and until she's willing to get help, there is nothing we can do. It seems to me that it is a very sad situation. At this point it doesn't appear that Nykee can be rational. The only bright light in this situation is that if she really is losing weight at this rate, the band will loosen on it's own as she loses fat around her stomach.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help. It's a testament to how caring and supportive this board can be.

I don't think there's any need to be so negative in response to Nykee, folks. She's looking for a place to express herself, and that's what LBT is here for. It's so hard to step back from the impulse we all have to fix things for others, especially when we think we have the answers. But she is not really asking for any help, and has in fact made that abundantly clear.

We all know the band is what we make of it. That's the lesson to be learned here, and I for one hope Nykee continues to post. I'm sure there are others reading who struggle with the same issues and perhaps Nykee's honesty will help them through their challenges.

That's what I'm hoping. When she loosens, maybe she will get a taste of the good life, bandster eating, and never want to go back to being so tight. One can only hope.

Nykee, this is obviously hard for you. I'm really really sorry. At the very least, I think you have at least been able to talk through your thinking enough to know it's right for you. I couldn't disagree more (you are TOO tight!) but I hope, in spite of it all, you are able to succeed, lose enough weight to have the surgery you need, and get a handle on your pain. I'm really sorry.

How many times does Nykee say she loves the food she is eating & she gets plenty of Protein from her milk and juice?

>>The milk.. There is no Protein in juice. DUH

THERE Is 10 grams in 8 ounces of milk..

I drank a guestimated 150 ounces today..

What juice are you drinking? The orange juice I drink has 2 grams of protein. So I guess some juices have protein DUHHHHH!

Also, Nykee.. I'm sorry to hear about your back problems. I have had them for years and I feel your pain. I had a spinal fusion, 2 back surgeries and a hip replacement, due to a car accident. It's going to be a struggle, believe me. Try walking 10 min. a day and go from there. I know it doesn't seem like much, but any type of exercise will help you. As you know, the added weight is going against you. I had to take 80 mg of oxycotin crushed every day. It will get better.

OKay.. Now that I've got my reply, I'm really done with this thread. :bored

listen to what I ate today..

1:00.....3 ounces OJ

3:45......whole can tomatoe Soup (with milk) and 6 ounces of milk

6pm.....6 ounces OJ

11pm .........prolly 20 nacho chips with 3 ounces of cheese sause and prolly about 1/4 cup of layered dip... 6 ounces of milk

A slice of rasberry cheesecake... and 6 ounces of milk

1/2 cup lime sherbert

12 ounces OJ

2:45am....3 fish fillets and my guess is 10 to 15 cups (6 ounces of milk)

I AM NOT TOO TIGHT

I EAT PLENTY

Ok, so you are no too tight (I think if that is all you can eat, you are, but you know your body.....) But please, please, please make better food choices.

There is little to no nutritional value in what you are eating and drinking. You will end up with bigger problems than a slipped or erroded band. Malnutrition is very very real, and if you have been trying to eat more, and this is what you are eating as a result, you will have problems. No today, or tomorrow, but 12 months + down the track.

I am 100% sure you could find healthy foods with the same texture as what you are eating. I am sure of it. The whole point of the band is to provide satiety, not stop you from absorbing calories. Hence we, as bandsters must provide our bodies with the "fuel" we need (healthy protien, and veggies) We are responsable for what we fuel our bodies with.

If we use the garbage fuel in our cars at the fuel station, our cars run like crap, yes? But when we use the good stuff, our cars run like a dream. Same goes for our bodies. We only get what we put in. You put in good stuff, you feel great. You put in crap, you feel like crap.

Just my 2 cents anyway. Feel free to disregard.

OK guys I agree with Alexandra here. Nykee originally posted for help, now that LBT members have offered that help she is electing to either follow some or none of the suggestions.

That is the risk when you offer advice. It is NEVER guaranteed that it will be followed. It is also respectful to NOT be harsh to the person if they don't take your advice.

Everyone has their own demons to fight in this weight loss battle. There could be some issues with Nykee that we aren't aware of that could be adding to her struggles. So it isn't as simple an issue for her to get an unfill as suggested. Her doctor as listed in her signature is Dr. Ortiz which means a trip to TJ for that unfill. She has mentioned that her funds are limited on more than one occasion.

She has health issues unrelated to her LapBand as well that can interfere with her weight loss process. Exercise and moving and stretching can help with some of those issues but again that is Nykee's call not ours.

Everyone stating they will just not respond to her posts anymore is not the support we all come here for. She needs someone to talk to. She has needs that are not being met she came here to vent essentially. She was only asking for support. Some offered advice and that was picked over and some of it used and some not.

I don't think anyone actually HEARD Nykee's plea. She is scared of staying large. We all have that fear. Yes, she needs to work through that fear herself we can't do that for her.

I recently vented my own frustrations. I received lots of support and I appreciate that. Nykee essentially did the same thing. What was the difference?

If Nykee wants this thread closed then the moderators can close it. I feel it would be a disservice to all concerned to do that.

Compassion and understanding are a wonderful thing. We all have it.

Hi Nykee

Have you taken a nutrition class before you got your weight loss surgery? I wonder if you missed out.

You should be eating Protein first, then veggies. Then see if you have some room for Junkie stuff like sherbet and cheesecake. Which isn't feeding our bodies with good nutrients. Our nutritionist explaned that we need to be very efficient in what we give our bodies so we don't become malnutrioned. He says always protein first, because it provides your body with what it needs most, and then veggies or other carb. Is your hair falling out? I was thinking that maybe you would do really well on a couple of Protein Shakes a day before you eat any junk, that way you will get what your body needs the most. Could you be craving the junk because you are not getting the protein you need?

Love and huggles

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
