Any one Banded 8/4/09 or 1st week of August

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Just checking in... It has been 21 days since surgery and just in the last 3-4 days, I am feeling so much better. The soreness is minimal and I have been able to eat more. I don't think it is healthy to lose 14lbs in 17days, which I did. I think some of this weight was from the trauma one's body feels after surgery. I spoke to my doctor who is going to do my fill Sept 11th. I can't wait. I feel my appetite has increase the more days go by and I don't want to lose this momentum.

Good job Susan I was banded 8/4/09 and I've lost 26lbs. I feel wonderful. I am getting my appetite back. My Dr. told me that It's ok to lose fast in the begining because the band will adjust later and your weight loss will slow down. Did you visit my page.:)

I want to thank everyone for following me on my blog. The is very helpful. It keeps me motivated because I know I have to write on my blog I also want to set a good example for those who are not sure of the band and those who have negative thoughts about it. I love the lapband you have the make the band work for you. Remember you have to do the work the band is there to assist. Good luck keep up the good work everyone. Please remember to sign up as a follower. By the way, I went back on liquids because I am getting hungry and wanting to eat. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. I don't want to disappoint myself.

That's a great idea! I will go back on liquids as well until my fill! I don't want to go backwards!

Thanks for the tip!

All you have to do is just click on someone's ticker and it will bring you to the website so you can create your own. Good luck!

Oy, 23 days out so far. Still on mushies, pretty over mushies honestly. Down 11 lbs since surgery day, 21 since pre-op diet, and 44 since I started seeing the surgeon about getting the band.

I'm okay with the slow loss, I was prepared for it. Had my first stuck episode 3 days ago, didn't even know it could happen pre fill. Was scary as heck, could not breathe for the life of me, didn't know what was happening at the time. Def. don't want that to happen again.

Been feeling a lil weird since then, foods I could get down a few days ago are feeling really heavy and like they are sitting up top, not sure what's going on, but keeping to liquidy meals for the next few days.

Don't see my surgeon until the 18th, not sure how I will do keeping on mushies till then, esp since I have issues getting Protein in, since I can not stand pureed meats *barf* and no protein shake/mix has sat right with me, have a basket full of powders I can't use now, they all make me gag and toss my Cookies. So last few days been getting less then half my needed protein, oy vey.

But, while it all sounds terrible, I am doing okay. It's been harder because ever since I started birth control to help regulate my monthly (sorry fellas) I have had a non stop period. I started BC on like the 27/28th of July so a whole month now with cramps, lower back pains and bloating. Lovely, I know lol I'm hoping once that stops, if it ever does, that I will feel more comfortable and less moody so things will be easier. *crossing fingers*

How are you all holding up?

I was banded 8/04/09 and feel great, however I have lost only 7 lbs. and feed I could eat anything. I have not been filled yet. Shouldn't I feel full after eating?

To tell you the truth, after healing right now I don't feel any restriction and cannot wait until my first fill...I am trying to not gain back the weight I lost since my surgery . I know it will be ok when I get my first fill. Try going back to liquids if you can.

Hi everyone i have been posting to my blog at www.myra-smith.blogspot.com please go there. anyway for those of you who have been I just want to up date you all on what going on with me. I have been starving my body because I'm not eating properly. So when I do eat I gain weight. The only reason that is happening is because I'm not eating mostly because I'm not hungry but since the surgery my stomache have a different feeling of hunger. I am going to make myself eat 3 meals aday and drink my Protein snack and fit a snack in. I started this yesterday. The body have to adjust then it will lose hopefully. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
