Hello, hang in there, yes i took a shower on the second day just have to be careful. My doctor put me on prilosec for my gas and acid. so i think you should be okay but you will have gas for about 1 to 2 weeks and some times it builds up and you can't get it out but adventually it will pass. It took me my total of 10 days before i felt like i was normal. so just go day by day and don't over do it. I don't think you are suppose to really walk for about a week except around your house. but as you move around the gas will pass. hope it gets better for you.

Day 2 was the worse for me. I mostly took pain med and slept . I think it took a wk or more for me to feel better. Hang in there. Walking around the house between naps keeps the gas moving. I was really miserable on day 2. Then it is uphill. Everyone is diffrent. I took the gas x strips for several days then off and on for a few weeks.

I wasn't allowed to take a shower until my third day. I don't know why? As soon as Sunday morning hit though I took a shower and just took it easy. I didn't have to do anything special about the incisions, I just washed over them lightly.

The 2nd day (day I came home from the hospital) I had maybe two sips of Water but I figured I was ok since I had an IV in me for so long. I couldn't stay awake long enough to drink anything and then every day after that I gradually increased Water.

The pain lessens everyday and then one day you wake up and its almost gone, thats how I feel now 9 days post op. The hardest thing for me is the shoulder pain that comes and goes and drinking all the water. I have no hunger or thirst and its a chore to slowly drink all that water but I keep forcing myself to because I don't want to be dehydrated. I took gas-x strips but I don't really know if they helped at all.. the best thing was walking or moving my arms around and lots of ice or heat.

Hello,

I haven't had surgery yet and can't supply first hand knowledge; but, thought you may find this useful.

My Dr. has told me to take pepsid AC and mylanta everyday after surgery (scheduled for 8/10). The pepsid AC he instructed me to take each and everyday - forever...

Hang in there, I'm counting the days until I'm where you are.

I need to take a shower I hate the hospital smell and I got the yellow stuff they use to sterylize you with blegh, I too only have a fee sips of Water ever hour, I think the back pain hurts and I have a little pain, I try to drink enough Water but I feel like I'll make myself sick or something so you used a ice pack? Did it feel better?

Thanks cherishthepast

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
