The high Protein diet and/or rapid weight loss can cause us to really produce uric acid. Just as an example I don't have gout...but my uric acid levels right now are almost double the "norm" because of my diet and loss. SO they have me taking allopurinol to prevent gout. Are you on a medication? If not, can you be? Some do a more "balanced" diet but this is something you should discuss with a surgeon and/or nutritionist so they can for sure give you good info. The pills do it for me and I assume eventually I won't need them.

Sure! I was shocked when they gave it to me, then they showed me my uric acid level (11.??) and I was astounded (I didn't have any symptoms thank goodness)

It does the trick for me and there are days where I pretty much eat only steak and a little bit of greens (this won't do for the long haul and I plan to branch out but right now the doc is watching me monthly) so I hope it works for you too!

And you'll work the band the way that works for you...you don't have to eat meats all the time! :)

I used to have gout and had high levels. Since I have had the band my levels are normal now. I just had blood work done and doctor said I did not need to take allpournal. I found that most of my attacks was because of seanings being used in the foods. I have been eating fish a lot and chicken and have not had any problems. If you have any more questions just ask.

Chris

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
