Rewards: Things You've Gotten Yourself and/or Are Working Toward

Recommended Posts

I did a search in the "Twenties" subforum for "rewards" and came up with nothing. Figured I'd start a thread to collect all of the rewards we buy ourselves for our weight-loss, exercise goals, and NSVs.

What kinds of things have you already earned as a reward for your hard work and/or what are some of the things you're working toward?

Oh boy here I go lol I've always believed in rewarding oneself for hard work. My mom always said when I get my paycheck, pay myself first and then be responsible lol

So when I get under 200 pounds, I play on getting a breast cancer ribbon tattoo that I've always wanted on my wrist for my mom. When I'm down 50% of my goal, I'm buying a Bracelet from Tiffany's that I've always wanted. And when I hit goal, I'll be celebrating in the bahamas. And probably another tattoo.

Ok sorry...I'm not in my twenties. Sue me, haha, but I liked this thread. You know...I was going to buy myself a Coach bag when I lost 100 pounds, but I like the Bahamas idea so much better!! Actually...okay after I lose 100 pounds I want to go to Aruba!! Woohoo. Screw the Coach bag.

Shmoopy I like your thinking! Yea I'm not set for sure on the bahamas, or aruba, or jamaica, or virgin islands, etc but it will be somewhere tropical like that!

Im not in my 20s either. But have some pretty good rewards in mind. I buy myself something every 15 or 20lbs. When I got to 200 I bought myself 2 pairs of great "skinny cut jeans ".i I'm also a big fan of perfume as a reward and purses. A girl can never smell too good or have enough coach or dooney&burke in her closet. And unlike the jeans that are already too big purses are forever. Lol

I also plan on going back to Jamaica. I went last year a few months before my banding. I loved it but felt like a big fat ass on the beach. I'm a size 10 now. I'm planning on being in a10 by the time I go. And I can't wait to hit the beach in my much smaller néw swimsuits.

That's a lovely gesture. A wonderful tribute to your mom. It's sweet that you're thinking of her first. :)

I haven't treated myself to anything as of yet. Money is a little tight, but when I hit goal I will be getting:

A Dooney & Bourke bag

Tattoos

Piercings (again)

I'm a Dooney & Bourke fiend, lol

Either a vacation to Miami or the Bahamas. Somewhere hot and sunny where I can just be at the beach the whole time .

When I hit 20lbs (2 days ago) I bought myself a pair of couch shoes. I plan on buying a prada purse when I hit my ultimate goal!

Well, since I'm not in my 20s either, I'm saving my money just in case I need plastic surgery on my arms, stomach, or elsewhere! 46 year-old skin may not snap back the way I'd like it to--if it does, then who knows what I'll do with all that saved money?! Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Fun thread!

I'm not in my 20s either, but dang this seems fun. Willow, I don't know about your 46 yr old skin, but my 41, yr old skin is out of elasticity. I definitely see some plastic surgery in my future. As far as rewarding myself. I buy more shoes and purses now. Isn't it amazing how many more purses you can choose from when you don't need to extremely long strap to go around you fat arm/body?!:) I constantly have to buy new clothes, because I am a teacher and I have to dress nice. I buy lots of shirts and have 1 pair of black pants and 1 pair of khakis. I started as a tight 26/28 and am now wearing a 14/16. As soon as I stop losing, I will begin saving for that tummy tuck!!!

I love this! I bought new workout clothes at 10 lbs etc. And I said I would get Tivo at 50 lbs, but I don't see that happening. Maybe at 50 lbs I'll get a mani/pedi.

Thanks HH! Watching her struggle through her battle with breast cancer made me really look at my life and family history and the future, and is a big reason why I actually started thinking about WLS.

Plus, I will use any excuse to buy stuff :) For instance, I've always wanted a tempur pedic mattress, and decided that I'll just use this whole rewarding-myself thing as an excuse to get it lol

I think this is a great thread! So fun to read others thoughts and get ideas :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
