Had My First Dr's Appt

Recommended Posts

O.K. I had my first Doctors appt and everything went pretty good.

I tried to add some weight on in my purse to up my BMI. Didn't work they made me leave it in another room.

Well I have a BMI of 36 and have HTN and high Cholesterol.

I have decided to hold off on the testing until my insurance either approves or denies me.

I have UHC so I'm so worried it not going to go through.

so how long does it usually take?

Please say a prayer for me.

I had to laugh about trying to add some weight... I mean, usually, its the exact opposite that we want to do..

OMG I was thinking the same thing but in my pockets----unless they make you strip. My first appt is Thursday 7/30

If you need to add weight I would place weights in your pockets and even in your bra.

Just don't let them see them.Shhhhhh LOL

Ever been to Weight Watchers? When ever I would start (which was many times) I used to eat the refrigerator the night before so my weight would be high and then at the end of the first week it would look like I lost a lot! Who was I fooling???? Now I think about eating out tonight--a lot-- including desert, eating a big Breakfast tomorrow, go out for lunch right before going to the dr and wearing weights in my pockets......I am sooo desperate for this.

Honsetly I gained 10 pounds for the appt. The only bad thing is yesterday I wanted it and today I want it gone.

I did the weigh in and now I'm on a diet to get these pounds off, the ten extra makes a difference on how clothes fit and how my general health feels.

Hey you two,

I have an appt scheduled with my regular doc tomorrow afternoon to have him refer me to a lapband surgeon. It feels good to finally start the ball rolling on this... I am guessing you two have already met with your lapband surgeon? I am gonna try to have my insurance cover the procedure but not sure if I will qualify :juggle:

Well good luck, like many say call your insurance and ask them what they cover. I have UHC and they explained everything to me over the phone.

On July 28th I went to the required seminar and met my surgeon. I submitted all my potential patient paperwork and am now praying for insurance to approve the surgery. I can't wait to find out!

Well, I went to the consult yesterday. I was shocked that there will still be so much to pay for even if my insurance covers the surgery. I guess insurance doesn't pay for the psychological appt, counseling, nutritionist etc. I was kinda bummed about that because I have only $210 left of my out of pocket for the year and then my insurance pays 100% for everything so I went in thinking thats all I will have to pay and now thru different appt etc I will pay $1400---BIG DIFFERENCE

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
