More fill with Fluro?

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much for all the great responces. Everyone has such different experiences so I guess I will just have to wait and see. We all just need to figure out what works best for us individually. I will be getting banded on the 18th so perhaps the wait wont be to long (on the other hand it may still feel like forever!).

I went to the doctor on Friday and he removed 1/2 cc. I am all better.

I think I know what happened. A week ago, I ask to be unfilled slightly so I could have a colonoscopy. The prep required me to swallow a total of 32 large pills. I had the colonoscopy on Tuesday and went for my fill on Thursday. I wonder if my stomach was irritated by the colonoscopy prep and that is why I had trouble when the doctor filled me on Thursday. I will go back in one month to be filled a little more.

My doctor doesn't do the fills - his PA does - I got my band over a year ago and only have seen my doctor twice since - once 6 weeks post-op and then not until my year checkup. Is this normal? Thanks.

The NP does my fills. I've been back 4x since surgery, and have only seen my surgeon once - at my second fill, when he popped in to say hello and ask how I was doing. Since I haven't had any problems, I'm okay with that. I guess its the trade-off for getting a popular surgeon.

Funny I think my doc does "pressure fills" in my AP band without fluoro. He can always pretty well gage how restricted I'll be; he says he can tell by the resistance he feels when he fills me. Gotta love a good surgeon.

I love your surgeon already! I'm glad I'm going with him!:sneaky:

I had my first fill on Friday afternoon. I had my surgery in Mexico, and had to find a local doc in the DFW area who will do my fills. Made lots of calls and did research and found Dr. Kim in Colleyville. His Nutritionist is a P.A. and does the fluro. I have the newest Realize Band that will hold 11cc. I was REALLY nervous going in. For some reason had visions of needles and having to watch the needle go in. Was totally different than I expected (better). He gave me a shot to numb my skin over my port, and I didn't even feel the needle stick. He put 5cc in the band, and did the fluro. Seemed a little tight so he took out .5cc and I'm scheduled back in 4 weeks for followup and second fill. I was a little surprised that the aftercare required liquids for a full week, my reading led me to believe it would be 3 days.

I think I opted for fluro for the same reason I chose the Lapband vs. gastic bypass. I want to be in control and feel like I have some input in how this plays out for me.

I was banded 7/21 and had my first fill last Wednesday. Mine had to be done under fluro due to the fact that my

PA wasn't able to fine my port. So by using the fluro he was able to see that my port had flipped. He was able to maneuver it and give me the adjustment. At first 2 cc's were placed but I had trouble drinking the Water after 4 sips. So I ended up with 1 cc and I've got alot of restriction and all is doing well. Sure hope I keep the restriction. Love my band

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
