Banded 2 weeks ago. 3cc's removed at 1 week post op Tues 7/21/09 because I could not drink. Then I swelled and on Friday 7/24/09 IV fluids with decadron(steroid to help) and another 1cc removed. Now again on Sunday back pain, golf ball in stomach feels lower than on Friday but lots of belching and spitting. I do get hungry but can not hold more than a few sips. Then it sits there uncomfortable, cannot drink Protein Shakes or Water. I have tried cold drinks, warm drinks. I feel like I could eat but afraid to try. Could I be blocked again? or is this bandster hell? ha

Where I got banded they do not put any Fluid in untill your first fill at 6-8 weeks. You have liquids for the first 3 weeks. This allows for you to heal from surgery. I was banded 2 weeks ago and I am doing well. I did read for people that feel blocked to do yoga breathing type exercises and it help open things up. I wish you luck.

how much is in your band? I am so glad my surgeon does not fill during surgery.

I hate to admit it but I'm not sure. I know that my doctor doesn't fill during surgery, but maybe after testing the band all the saline didn't drain back out. Sounds a little unlikely I know. Like I said any advice would be so appreciated. I think I'm better no severe back or chest pain yet today. I had odwalla chocolate 3 oz. and a half wet egg. Thanks guys for responding.

Call and ask your surgeon if you still have saline in there. Unless he told you he was removing ALL of it...you said he removed 1cc, then 1cc. How do you know there isn't more in there? Depending on your band size you MAY still have a good amt of saline in there. Call your doc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
