Argh... Coffee

Recommended Posts

Why did I start drinking coffee right before getting the lapband (like a month)? I'm such a dork.

I like mine with a lot of cream and sugar (since I'm a newb), so it's not like I can keep drinking it.

So bye bye coffee after today ^_^ Starting the pre-op diet tomorrow.

I havent had any coffee since surgery ^_^ switched to iced tea. Since its so hot it made the transition much easier. Give that a try with a artificial sweetner.

If your doctor does not prohibit it, you CAN keep drinking it. It is on my doctor's allowed list. I just changed to splenda and 1% milk and sugar free coffee mate.

Be sure to check with your doctor first though. This is one of those things that some allow and some do not.

Good luck!

I have never given up my coffee, not on WW, calorie counting, and now the band. I drink Decaf, so that's not an issue. I do, however, like mine sweet and creamy and I use the good stuff. But I only drink one mug a day so I allow myself the treat.

It really just depends on how much you like it and how important it is to your day. For me, it helps to get my band relaxed so I can eat. Like most people my band is really tight in the mornings and warm coffee really helps.

Oh, I'll definitely keep drinking iced tea - it's one of my favorite drinks. And I've been using artificial sweeteners in my tea for yeeeears. I can't remember the last time I used actual sugar in it.

I think my doctor is ok with drinking coffee, as long as you use Splenda or something (and probably decaf).

Do they have sugar free Hazelnut flavored Coffee Mate? Maybe that will work for me.

I actually just started drinking it because the ladies in the office like their coffee nice and smooth. I never liked coffee because it was always way too strong (I liked the taste, though), but this is perfect. So now I've been drinking it just about everyday at work (Mon-Fri for the past month).

I can live without it, but I do like drinking it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
