Slamming through the Onderland border

Recommended Posts

The last month or two, I've been losing about .5 lb per week. I hit 201 June 13th, but put on 4 pounds on my 5oth birthday, it took me almost a month to get back to 201. Yesterday, I suddenly lost 2 pounds in one day and slammed through the 200 pound barrier. It took just under 7 months from surgery date, but I'm here. The last time I was under 200 was 1988. I'm hoping within 2 weeks to be at my goal.

Go yourself, but thanks. From a bmi of 40 to 22 in a year? When I get to my goal of 195, that will be a bmi of 25, I may just try to hold it awhile. For me to get to 24 or the top end of normal would be another 10-12 pounds. If I try to run a 1/2 marathon next year, that may happen by itself, but I think over the winter I will work on maintaining.

Percentage-wise you are about where I was at 7 months. And you are running marathons!...how cool is that!

Maintaining is where I have been for a couple months now. I would like to lose another 13 pounds...with my frame I think that I would look great then. But lately I have just been working on seeing where exercise will take me, at least for the summer. Maybe this fall I will get back to trying to lose the last bit of weight. Right now I am around mid-range normal BMI and if I didn't lose another pound I would be perfectly fine with that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
