I feel so disgusted with myself. For the past two weeks I have been struggling with my food consumption. I find myself nibbling when I am not even hungry. I have also consumed fried foods on more than one occasion. In addition, I have been eating hot fudge sundaes from McDonalds. I am off work for the summer. Therefore, I contribute some of my behaviors to boredom. I know what I am doing is wrong but I can not seem to stop.I am actually rarely hungry. However, I just keep eating. I have gained 3lbs and was able to drop 1lb since Monday. I have only had one fill so far. It seems like I did better before my fill. I knew this was going to happen. Whenever I get this far in any diet program I sabatog myself. Does anyone have any ideas for getting back on track? Should I try liquids for a week to get things going again?

I'm not banded, so I don't really know what you're going through right now, but I'm sure many others have experienced the same things.

Do you go to any support groups? Have you tried counseling to try to figure out why you're self-sabotaging and possibly attempt to control it?

As far as self-sabotaging goes, I know exactly what you're going through. I think I did that in almost every diet I tried. For me, it's fear of getting close to people that causes me to do it. When I lose weight, I become more social. That leads to getting attention from guys. Then I freak out because I'm not comfortable with that attention. When I gain the weight back, it stops, and I'm comfortable and safe again.

I agree with HolliJ, I would start going to a support group. I love LBT but I also never miss my monthly support group where I was banded. Maybe journaling and logging your foods and exercise would keep you more focused, I make my menu's out in advance and that helps me. I think it's probably pretty common to get bored and variety is important.

If you get a chance take a quiet walk today and think about why you got lapband and refocus by making just one goal this week and see if you accomplish it by weeks end.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel disgusted with yourself, everyone has setbacks. You need to refocus and remember why you got the band in the first place. Try talking to someone if it helps you. Also, it seems like you're eating out of boredom. Find something productive to do to get your mind off it.

It's difficult (even with the band) to change the habits of a lifetime. I had some major MAJOR cheats and some weight gain in May while traveling for business. Once home, I started going to support groups again, made an appointment with the surgeon's office to talk with them (and have been going every couple of weeks to keep up with accountability), and cut back the cheats.

You can do this..just need to get your head back in the game. Back to basics.

Go ahead and schedule another fill. And then find some activity to get you out of the house. Volunteer somewhere. I cannot stay around the house. If I lived alone it wouldn't be so bad because there wouldn't be chips and Cookies and stuff but My 20 year old granddaughter who is 5'7" and weighs 110 and her 15 month old daughter live with me and there stuff is always there, beckoning seductively, LOL.

Could you go to a hiking trail away from home that would not only burn up the time spent on the trail but some time in getting there and back home? I do that sometimes on Sundays and can manage to burn up like three hours, LOL. Get some exercise and be out of the house for a good amount of time. This weekend, if I weren't going to the beach, I could go to a charity called MedShare (here in Atlanta) that repacks donated medical supplies to ship to third world countries. Takes half a day and I'd be doing something good. I have also volunteered on a regular basis packing meals for home delivery to people who are housebound. None of this stuff is hard work, but it's really, really rewarding, the other people who participate are always friendly, and it keeps me away from my house and all those temptations.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
