Hello, new to this site but not to lapband

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to say hello. My nutritionist recomended this site for support. My trouble spots are sweets and getting enough Water in my day. Any suggestions for these issues? FYI, I work in a lab setting where food and drink is prohibited.

Thanks,

Welcome to LBT! Have you tried to drink crystal light, to get more Water in. Also can you take any breaks, like instead of cigarette breaks you take a quick water break and go outside? Also as far as sweets have you tried sugar free Jello, pudding, popsicles, and fudgeicles(Spelling?). These are just a few ideas. Good luck to you!

I've started chugging Water in the morning. I drink about 24 ounces in the morning with my medication before I go to work. I try to keep water in sight at all times (I know this isn't possible for you, but maybe it will give you some kind of idea). I'm sitting in my home office right now and can see my bottle out of the corner of my eye. If I go into another room, I grab the bottle and take it with me. I do the same at work. If I go to someone else's office, I take my water.

I know people who have set times every day when they drink a specific amount. They set an alarm and then go drink a small tumbler of water. My mom drinks a small glass every time she walks by the kitchen.

I know that drinking a lot at once isn't always possible for those with good restriction, so I don't know how well any of these ideas will work for you. Right now, I can gulp water because I have no restriction at all. I don't know what my solution will be when I'm filled.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
