I am 23 and have struggled with being over weight for most of my life. Right now I am weighing in at 245 and am 5'6. My calculated BMI is 39.5. I do not have high BP, but I do have terrible back pain and terrible asthma. I have a few other problems, but nothing MAJOR...I have great insurance...does anyone else have a similiar case? Do you think I will qualify?:(

Hi!

I'm eight years younger than you, but in the same boat. My insurance has approved me and the doctor that did my father said that if our family doctor will approve me, then we can get the ball rolling.

I think that you will be approved. but then again, I'm stil ignorant of the real world, being protected by the barriers of childhood and what-not. Keep me updated though!

Have you had your height check by doctor maybe you make be half in shorter or the doctor may round your BMI up to 40. I had to show documentments that I had been at a BMI of 35 or over for the last 3 years ( I have high blood pressure). I would just go for a consult and they will let you know if they think you qualify my doc did'nt charge for my consult. sleep apena will also get you qualified ( have you been checked for that)?

Hey I'm also from Alabama!!

It's nice to talk to another Alabama person! Maybe I am shorter, that would be great! I feel positive I have been more than 35 for 5 years! I am not sure if I have sleep apnea, but I am willing to be tested for it, thats for sure! Thanks for your response...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
