Time to Get Serious

Recommended Posts

YIKES! I am 3 weeks away from band! Looks like I need to get serious about this! I got my packet in the mail today. According to this, I should have already given up caffeine. I drink iced tea. I should be exercising 30 minutes a day. Not doing that either. Oops.

There is no special pre-op diet for me, but I am supposed to lose 10 lbs before my surgery. So I am starting tomorrow with my own diet. I am going to do a Protein Shake for Breakfast, nutrisystem entree for lunch and then just protein/veggie for dinner.

I bought a magic bullet today and also liquid vitamins.

Wow, it seemed so far away and I have a feeling surgery will be here before I know it!

How is everyone else preparing????

I have a preop liquid diet that I must follow for 10 days prior to surgery. It is full liquids/lo-carbs for the first 9 days and Clear liquids with a bowel prep the day before surgery. In the meantime, I have to admit, I'm eating many of my favorite foods. However, I'm not pigging out on those things. For example, I went to Carino's today and got potato Soup and Bowtie Festival, but I didn't finish it.

As for exercise, I bought a used treadmill. I have walked on it twice so far. I also bought a Wii and the Wii Personal Trainer. I hope to start getting active one small step at a time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
